G'day rucabela, congrats on starting a group. Hope more members join up.
I've just learned that we are limited to 1000 characters here, so I'll try to keep this post short.
I have collected rocks, minerals & gemstones for many years, but also have some stamps, coins & LP's.
These days I concentrate on stringed musical instruments, mainly resonator (Dobro) & lap steel guitars.
Below is a pic of my favourite reso & the one I play most. It is a 2006 Wechter Scheerhorn.

FIRST OF ALL,LET ME SAY THANKS FOR JOINING THE GROUP and a gīday to you, down under.
the guitar,itīs a beauty.i also am a big music follower
being in my early 50īs now i like the music of my early youth (beatles, stones etc) but also from the 70s and 80s

itīs quite an unusual collection, because it must require quite a bit of money to collect guitars

i am an addicted collector and i wanted to hear similar stories from other people about collections of unusual things as well as the usual things(stamps etc)
you can go to my personal page and see a link to my hobby page, a site where you can swap collectables as i do with people all over the world
hope to see more people here soon..........ROY

Hi Roy, Yes, hobbies/collecting can be expensive. I have been collecting for many years & guitars are things that you tend to keep - I have the first guitar I bought 37 years ago for example. Been collecting rocks even longer.
I have been lucky with some of my instruments, inheriting a couple & picking some up cheap via trading magazines, pawn shops & that other e auction site that shall remain nameless.
It's all relative I guess. Some people go fishing or dabble with fast cars, which can cost really big $'s.
Even stamp collecting can run into money. Try buying a full sheet of every new issue a country produces!
I'll stick to my guitars I think. Will check out that link.
    Cheers, Allen.

    absolutely right
a collection can be as cheap or as expensive as you want
i heard of someone who collects soda cans from all over the world
one manīs junk is another manīs treasure
i collect that sort of thing,FREE OR CHEAP LOL
i had a banknote collection of 6000 pieces when i lived in england , but sold them when i moved here
i started again about a year ago and have a collection now of 800+
i am always on the lookout for more,so if you know any collectors of banknotes you can give them the link from my page
please tell all collectors you know here to join the group,THANKS ALLEN...............ROY

    Good Morning Roy.....

Thanks for the invite to join your group.

I have English banknotes which date from 1914 // 1918 (Treasury Notes) up to the present day Bank of England notes. I have one note of each kind from successive Chief Cashiers so my collection is large at the present time. I buy the best quality notes that I can afford so my collection not only "looks" good but also holds a higher value for later years.

I started to collect World banknotes but found this too vast a subject so decided to stop. As I had to collect some kind of banknote I decided to concentrate on just one particular country and chose Germany..... I now collect Reichsmarks from the 1900's to 1945. They are really attractive notes with very ornate Gothic lettering and most have very attractive artwork to the back of the note.

Yes, I am open to swaps if you wish. Will let you know what I have and will post a list later this evening.

    Speak with you later.

    Regards.

    Ollie.

i am trying at the moment to get a note from every country, island etc
this is quite a task as you can imagine
if you have any swaps i can send a list of countries that i need,itīs quite a long one
but thanks to a few people from colnect and friends,i am slowly gathering them together
i have recently acquired a note from tunisia and sweden, norway are on their way from a friend in usa
so, slowly slowly the list shrinks
