How Do You Buy Your Music?
Is the day of the CD over? Does everyone now download their music? I am beginning to wonder.
Having been with eBid for just over a year, steadily listing my stock of CDs, like everyone else, sales seem to be very slow. Is it just me? I am not sure that it is. I look at other CD sellers and they don't seem to be doing a lot better (apologies to those of you who are and I have missed you).
Should we all just give up and sell off our stock to Music Magpie or some other such site, or dare I say it, bundle it all up and sell it on the "other side" as bulk lots?
Perhaps I just need reassurance that we all still have a chance of selling something every now and again.
Enough said - back to listing more stock - I personally don't feel like giving up just yet!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to all fellow eBidders for many sales, whatever you may be dealing in.

I don't think they are dead yet, but are in a continued decline. Even digital downloads seem to have had their day. Now it's streaming that seems to be the latest thing - at least in the youth market which is where the sales are to be made.
When you think how long the record reigned supreme, the constant changing of formats seems hard to keep up with. It's the same in the video market.

Don't give up yet. The demise of the LP was forecast, but sales have been on the increase over the last few years. Nostalgia frequently rears it's head when you least expect it.

Good point. My brother who's not young, but hardly ancient in his 40s, has a turntable and lots of records.
Best wishes for many sales to all,

Thanks to everyone who has read this thread and to all those who have contributed your thoughts - it is greatly appreciated.
As you say, CD sales seem to be on the wain. The only thing that I can hope is that I (and my fellow CD sellers) see a wave of nostalgia sweep over everyone as we have seen in the re-emergence in the vinyl records market.
Oh well, keep on listing and keep my fingers crossed that someone out there needs a CD I have.
Best wishes to all fellow eBidders for many sales to come!
