Abbreviation Query
Hello :)
We bought some pendants from another vendor and I see that two of them, on their bails, say either "18WCP" or "18WGP." One pendant is amethyst and the other rutilated quartz, both are natural stones, and I'm guessing they came originally from either China or Afghanistan.
Do either abbreviation mean anything to anyone?
Thanks :)

18 Karat White Gold Plated ?
-
This mark is to identify the type of elements (Metals) used to make the gold.
Some recipes work better than others and in this sense a variety of golds have been determined as better for casting or better for setting etc.
There are a variety of recipes for different white golds, in amongst which there is some colour differentiation.
Standard --> 18W used commonly for fabricating has Au, Ag, Cu, Pd & Ni and is white yellow
General purpose --> 18WGP used commonly for fabricating, setting and casting has Au, Ag, Cu, Zn, Pd & Ni and is grey white
Setting Alloy --> 18WSA used for setting as it is softer has Au, Ag, Pd & Pt and is quite white
Hope that helps

Thanks to both gallant gents for responding :)
I considered the possibility of "white gold plated" but thought the pendants were maybe too "common" for such luxury; perhaps they are nicer than I thought!
Thanks again :)
