Dealing with Friend Requests ...in a hopefully friendly way
Let me premise this by saying I'm all for having friends. But to me, a friend is someone you've gotten to know and want to be friends with. I'm not one of those people who collect friends just to see how many friends I can get listed. It sort of defeats the purpose ...they're not friends ...they're just numbers.
So, if someone I've never met or talked to before sends me a friend request without any notes as to who they are, common interests, why they want to be friends, etc. and I reject the request, do they get notified? ...or is the friend request just deleted?
Just wondering as I don't want to be rude but I don't want to be pestered or become just a statistic, either.
Thanx!

I'm not sure of that one either so,in the interests of research,I'll send you a request. You then reject it,I'll let you know if I'm notified.http://www.ebid.net/forums/attachmen...0&d=1295726155
Edit: Done.
Re: Dealing with Friend Requests ...in a hopefully friendly way
I find it handy for sending PMs ... I don't keep stored messages so it saves me looking through for an old Forum entry from them.
And I have never refused a request .. if people want to collect me they are very welcome... no charge folks!!!

LOL! :) Agree with Cats and Cornish, I mostly use it to keep track of people. I don't go around adding meself, but have never refused a request or a bar of chocolate, not necessarily in that order... :)
Best wishes for many sales to all,
Re: Dealing with Friend Requests ...in a hopefully friendly way
I remember having friends.
I never decline friend requests but always decline joining groups.
Re: Dealing with Friend Requests ...in a hopefully friendly way
I am the same on facebook and Livejournal on my personal accounts. Its for people I already know from somewhere. (especially facebook).
Theatre accounts are different, I will add *anyone* to those, who asks.

Sorry folks, been out for the day.
I haven't had any notification of a rejection but,in the list of friends the "requested" person is greyed out.

So,presumably, unless you accept the request, there is no "formal" notification that it has been rejected or ignored. It's only logged as a friend when you accept it.
