Oops!! thought this wasn't allowed
Just been checking out some auctions and saw this on one of the auctions as a notice at the top:
Quote:
POLITE NOTICE.... A large majority of items I have for auction are offered on other web sites, and can be withdrawn without prior notice if a bid has not been secured. Thank you.
now I'm sure sellers are not allowed to say stuff like this
Re: Oops!! thought this wasn't allowed
Well, as I see it, if a bid has not been placed, surely the seller can close the auction?
A different kettle of fish if someone has placed a bid and it has sold elsewhere.
Re: Oops!! thought this wasn't allowed
I wouldn't think they would allow that. If I were a prospective buyer I sure wouldn't deal with them.
Re: Oops!! thought this wasn't allowed
Yes, dardon, it would put me off too.
Re: Oops!! thought this wasn't allowed
I wouldn't do it either but did speak to someone over yonder who does it to stop people messing about putting it on watch lists as if they want it he said it stopped them messing about and they bid on it to stop him from taking it off. If you think about it more people used to bid before watch lists came into exisistence but once I list it stays on whatever site i list it on and not on any other.
This is his opinion not mine

Why not list an item everywhere? Business is business. Generally speaking the chances of an item selling on two or three sites simultaneously are pretty low.
I think the problem is forgetting to remove a sold listing from every other site where is is listed.

No problem with people listing on various sites, it is then up to each site to provide the best traffic to get the sale and the fees, removing from the other sites is the important thing. The other thing is whether people list on BIN or auction, no problem with BIN but asking for trouble with an auction. As for the message here, it is just likely to lose the seller sales, I would remove it, list where they want as a BIn and remove from other sites if it sells, but personally I do not think it's worth the hassle of doing all the work listing and removing. I would only bother if I had several of the items available in the first place.
