confirmation of address post sale
I have recently sold two items to different buyers, and on both occasions the buyer had not updated thier new address on eBid.
The result is one item has been 'returned to sender' and the other I contacted the buyer first as I had checked their address listed on Paypal, and after contacting them first, the matter was resolved before I sent their item.
My question is: should there be a confirmation of delivery address once a buyer makes a purchase (though I dont want to complicate the buying process), or is there a better way to prevent this recurring other than to check PayPal each time and only send to that registered address?
Re: confirmation of address post sale
I always use the paypal address unless specifically asked by the buyer. You are not protected by paypal unless you do.

Ditto - but if still in doubt, contact your buyer.

If there is a difference between the buyers Ebid address & Paypal address I ask the buyer to confirm the address they want the item posted to, explaining that the Paypal address is the one the item should be posted to for seller protection.
Takes a little time but buyers have been okay about the confirming of the address.
Re: confirmation of address post sale
I always check eBid and Paypal details before shipping. If there is any discrepancy in either address or name, I get confirmation from buyer first as to their instructions on who/how to ship, always letting them know that the Paypal details are usually the one sellers must use for protection of both parties.
Re: confirmation of address post sale
I appreciate that the paypal registered address is the one that offers 'protection' but my point is buyers should be made aware of the address eBid has listed by way of a confirmation.
Looks like I will have to check paypal each time a sale is made. But at least they are sales!

It seems that I am the only other person apart from Saturdayat3 who thinks this is a good idea, remember not everyone uses paypal. I check the address on a postcode finder and found I had a scammer on one sale, when the address did not match.

Your right, went of track there for a moment. I too think it would be really helpful if eBid could auto confirm buyer addresses when purchases are made and paid for. Not sure though how this could be implemented.

How were they going to scam you if paying via paypal? Not saying they weren't, quite the reverse, just curious to be forewarned.
Re: confirmation of address post sale
It was not going to be a PP sale, Johnwash as I had not got that listed as an option. We did not get as far as discussing how the payment would be made; when I found out that the address did not match I referred it to eBid and the "buyer" disappeared very rapidly.
As for confirming the address it could be done in the same way as at other sites where you are shown the registered address then confirm it. A message could be added to the one sent by eBid that the address had been confirmed by the buyer during the process.
