Autumn is here
It was the Autumnal Equinox yesterday heralding the start of Autumn.
It's a lovely sunny start to the day here showing the Autumnal colours at their best.

Re: Autumn is here
Autumn colors really are beautiful. Alas! Here in Florida we don't really have that much of an autumn season here. Actually, we have basically two seasons, hurricane season and not hurricane season. The former lasts about 9 months.

Re: Autumn is here
Hi JaBek, sure know what you mean.
We used to live in Kissimmee for a few years, and we were living there when Hurricane Andrew struck - man that was sooo scary.
No-one knew for sure where it would reach landfall, as I'm sure that you well know and remember, with you living in Ocoee.
Yes, autumn colours are truly beautiful and I'm hoping to be able to get some nice pics to show, but there isn't a great deal of colour around here just yet, as we have been having some rather nice weather here lately.
I expect soon it will be colourful, our weather forecast isn't looking too good, we have Easterly winds forecast, which are freezing cold.
Oops, forgot to say thank-you to the peeps who have posted pics ... keep 'em coming folks!

Re: Autumn is here
Kissimmee isn't far from Ocoee at all. I think the worst year I can remember is 2004. We had three hurricanes come directly over us in a month that year and another hit up in the panhandle that I had to go up to hours after it hit. I remember leaving the plywood up covering my windows for weeks since they were coming in so close together. I lost a few fence sections and some shingles, but I was far luckier than some of my neighbors that had trees blown onto their houses.
If memory serves, the first one I experienced was David back in '78, I believe. Of course, Andrew hit down in south Florida, but we definitely felt some of the effects.
My wife usually has to stay over at the Hospital when one is expected. That's why she keeps a bag packed in the trunk of her car. I believe it was Erin that hit Kissimmee when I was head of Security at the Osceola Regional Medical Center. I remember we had a heck of a time in the delivery room that day. Nothing like having a baby during a hurricane. I think a couple of girls ended up being named Erin that day.

Re: Autumn is here
Oh JaBek, I take my hat off to you, Sir.
You and your wife are very courageous, braving out a hurricane to help others that are in need medical attention.
Sheesh, childbirth is quite enough to cope with, without having a hurricane blowing a hooley around you.
I love that name Erin, a lovely Celtic name.
