thanks for watching:
The only thing that has changed about Angkor is the amount of people going, as I left I did see some others going in but I had the place all to myself for a number of hours...
Great pics....... looking forward to the next installment.
Angkor Thom Part 1. - Krong Siem Reap
The second part of our trip to the Temples took us to the area known as Angkor Thom.
Of our total "Angkor Wat" time of seven & a half hours, we spent quite a lot of it at Angkor Thom - in particular, Bayon, the temple of King Jayavarman VII.
This is one of the more commonly photographed temples, given the 216 enigmatic stone faces (of the Buddhist Bodhisattva, Avalokitesvara) that adorn it.
A fascinating place and although more 'ragged' in appearance than Angkor Wat, it is very special.
Enjoy the associated photos.

Angkor Thom Part 2 - 'Terrace of the Elephants'
Hi again.
Still at Angkor Thom, this time a structure near to Bayon called 'Terrace of the Elephants'
The Lonely Planet says this 350 meter long 'viewing stand' was for public ceremonies.
They knew how to build a Grandstand back in the late 12th Century.

Angkor Thom (part 2) - Ta Prohm
Over 8 centuries ago - someone had a pot plant.
The last of the main Temples we visited, Ta Prohm, might just be the best of them.
Part of it has probably been seen by more people than the rest of "Angkor Wat", thanks to it being used in the movie 'Tomb Raider'.
Enjoy - and imagine life as it might have been here back in 1186, when building works for this commenced.
