Apparently self-published......
I'm re-reading my favourite Carl Hiaasen at the moment: Skinny Dip. Must be about the fourth time through. I love Hiaasen's stuff, it's funny, surreal, well plotted with a real "crime/thriller/mystery" element, but twisted in his unique way. The characters tend to be wonderfully extreme - the good guys are good in a whacky, eccentric, eco-warrior way, and the bad guys are so baaaaaaaaaddd. And generally get their come-uppance. :D His stuff is set in Florida around the keys and everglades and there's usually a good sprinkly of alligators and wotnot. It's pretty hard to describe or categorise... maybe Wodehouse on acid? ;)
Mmm, not read any of his books at all. I think I should add him to my 'to read list'.
Our library bus visits next week so I shall see if there are any on board :D
"Katharine Swynford" by Alison Weir is finished, and a great foil for Anya Seton's "Katharine", which was supposed to have been historically accurate, and which now I find has been messed about, and since Katharine doesn't appear in the sources at all for long periods of time, mostly made up.
I am now decontaminating after reading Sharon Penman, by reading "Simon de Montfort" by J. R. Maddicott, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
As an aside, I've also just read "The Snow Goose" by Paul Gallico which I will now recycle as it's in poor condition. (It's also rather depressing).
And today, whilst I was waiting for a report from SCCM to load I read "The Queen" by Peter Morgan, Times Film Club script.
Well, in between several reports loading actually.
Interesting interpretation of what might have been going on behind the scenes in the Royal Family when Diana, Princess of Wales was killed.
I'm now devouring Daughters of the Grail by Elizabeth Chadwick, I'm just loving her books so much, yum yum :D
Thanks to Bykimbo, I am on my 2nd 'The Cat Who' book. I wish I could read faster, as I have so many books that I haven't read yet:D
