Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
I am unclear what the poster is actaully referring to as fees here are very low
But then so are sales
So a question: are you better off with
very low fees, but very low sales meaning turnover and profit are negligible
Or
Higher fees, higher sales, higher turnover and some profit
Answer:
There isn't one because it depends on what you are selling. Our products are not moving here, but sell regularly elesewhere. And yes, we often only make less than 10p on a sale, but if we do that a few times a day it adds up.
So if we use an equation of
total Profit = No Sales * (Sale price-fees)
then we can see that actually the fees become meaningless if sales are 0 (or tend towards zero)
At the end of the day, fees are only relevant if you can have comparable sales
Discuss! :)
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
Yes you are right but this applies only to two categories of sellers….first one who looking to make a living from auction site month to month and second who looking to make a less couple hundreds $$$ from auction site month to month….
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
And by the way good old days where many just stay in own place and make living from selling on the auction site instead of real work is just pass by for many and no auction site exist anymore anywhere who can give you that where you have low fees and ‘’monster’’ sales and good profit in end of month…this stuff don’t exist anymore for many people who selling on the Net…
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
As a business, however small, the lifetime fee here is negligible,
& you write it off against tax.
If you are paying for decent hosting for a business website,
it would probably cost you at least that, every 2 years.
If you are paying for a shop on ebay I think even a basic one costs,
over twice the lifetime fee here each year.
If it's listed there, it might sell, it might not,
either way you pay fees.
If it's listed here, it might sell, it might not,
if it doesn't sell you don't pay any fees.
The one guarantee, if it's not listed here, it cannot sell.
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
After managing to shut my mouth (it was hanging open after reading the OP) I have only one question: Was this a SERIOUS observation?

My store subscription plus listing fees for a month over there are about equal to the one time payment for Seller+. It's a no brainer to me.
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
Really glad to have woken up to this words of wisdom it is really a no brainer.
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
Even with the high fees on ebay you cannot gaurantee good sales as before
but one thing is at least you will have a couple of sales in a week.
Same cannot be said of ebid but i know things will be better.
Guess ebay was like this nce upon a time.
I hope when ebid becomes as big a selling site as ebay
they will not cancel our lifetime thing.
Re: eBid Could Be An eBay Rival
Im afraid having been on here for a couple of weeks now and sold nothing im starting to think the ebay fees are justified. Ebid does not advertise at all - no advertising=no business! its not our job to promote ebid, it not our company. From what i have read ebid is only a year younger than ebay yet has not made anywhere near as much progress in that time. The only way this site will be jump started into life is by a massive marketing campaign ie tv, google adwords etc. I pay in the region of 200-300 a month in fees to ebay but turn over about £2000 so 10% is not to much to drop off my margin. Ive been looking in the sector in which i sell and no one has any feedback at all in fact two people have some how managed to get negative feedback. The one seller who does have feedback has had it imported from else where!! Ebid will never rival ebay because it simply does not put in the capital investment to make it work.

Another Basher that has run home to pay his fees.
