Exemptions are only for items where there is no UPC/MPN/ISBN/EAN.
You need only to have the word exempt in the barcode box - you do not need anything in the brand section whatsoever, just put exempt in the barcode section.
You do not need to put vintage or unbranded. The Google Shopping upload from eBid is conducted via a verifier and that verifier is the word exempt in the barcode section.
At the moment there even seems to be some advice for publications/books to have an additional word in the brand section - books should never ever have anything in the brand section whether they are vintage or not - it will either require an ISBN number or for old books (where there is no ISBN) then they can have the word exempt.
Thanks for the info. If an item has the word unbranded in the other box, though, it doesn't mean that it won't show up on Google Shopping.

Yes you are absolutely correct.
However as we have all seen, things do change - so there could be all sorts of problems caused in a future change of policy by putting in needless information now. There may well come a time when a second qualifier is needed and it won't help having wrong information entered already.
Keep it simple.

A very good point - I had actually only put in the word unbranded because I read on the forum that it was necessary to do it.... can't remember where I saw it though. I shall stop! LOL!
Re: Google Shopping Exemptions
Bloomin heck, me to. I used the unbranded option as well. So, is it best to go and take it out then?

Jan, I wouldn't overly worry about it. But the brand section does have a bulk edit :).
I was just extremely keen to stop that advice being given for exempt listings when there is absolutely no need to put anything in the brand section and could cause problems further down the line.
