I think a previous poster raised a valid point re Variety.
Some categories on Ebid draw a total blank and some searches come up empty.I've started going through my stock looking for more of the one offs or stuff with a limited, specialised market.
Even priced sensibly to sell they will possibly serve better as an advert or to provide a wider selection than as a source of income but remembering how much discusion there used to be about weird and wonderfull stuff for sale on the dark side a similar approach might help over here.
That's precisely it. I deal mainly in vintage and collectable toys and when i first arrived here even the most basic categories were empty. Popular categories such as he-man, thundercats, micro machines, vintage action man and countless others needed attention so i've scattered a few items in these categories just to kick them off. I will go back at a later date to bulk them out but have been listing more obscure items recently to add a bit more variety. I see any empty categories as an opportunity. If there is little to no competition within a category then it's a chance to add more diversity to your store and increase traffic which will inevitably create more sales.
We Want A Lot Of Buyers Here.Nothing Else But Buyers. Then Empty Categories Would Be Filled And Empied And Then Filled Again
You're absolutely right, in general, but don't assume the categories have always been empty. I did fill up the Hornby Dublo category at one stage, for instance, but almost everything sold. Now it's nearly empty again. I've been astonished that more sellers dealing in toys haven't joined.
