Re: New ebid user wants to make sure he is doing things correctly
On the auction page here, you can choose to have the shipping calculated for international buyers and then there is a box that allows you to add a handling fee. You will need to know the weight, which shouldn't be difficult.
International shipping is not difficult, so if you have any other questions, please reply back here or PM me.

Is there any way that I can have it calculated and then add a handling fee for materials, time packing, etc? I package my items as they are sold, so to have their weight plus the weight of the packing materials predetermined is a bit difficult for me right now.

Thank you. I am starting to add international shipping to my listings. :)
Are there any countries that I should avoid for problems like frequent lost postage or are they all okay?

I haven't experienced any lost packages but I've not shipped to everywhere in the world (yet)!

I'm just shipping worldwide and hoping that those transactions will be okay. Hopefully now I'll be able to make my first sale.

My experience in shipping world wide has generally been fine...with the exception of Italy. That really has been a consistent black hole!

Good luck! I'm waiting too.

How sad for you. My best repeat Buyers were from Italy - they kept buying heaps of classical sheet music for guitar and there was never a single problem with either one of them for me.

Re: New ebid user wants to make sure he is doing things correctly
Italy is one of the places where I heard that packages seem to have a high loss rate. Since the term 'college student' = not a lot of money, I removed Italy from the list of shippable countries. I can't take the risk of having to refund buyers for lost packages. Every other country I have left so the European members who couldn't originally see my items now can.
Re: New ebid user wants to make sure he is doing things correctly
And I've noticed no one has answered an earlier question. What does it mean when someone sends you a 'friend request' here on eBid?

Sorry, only just seen it - "Also, I got a 'friend request' here on ebid. What is that and what advantages would it have in selling? "
Nobody has ever explained it to me but here goes, my take on it: You can agree to the request & you both are "friends" = you can help each other along, share experiences, give advice.... get closer to that person than you can, for example, with me right now. In that sense I suppose it may have selling advantages.
Or you can disregard the request if you wish....
I've been in both situations: have and had friends - some are long lasting; some have gone; some I have chosen not to continue with and some I have not accepted the request.
Personal preference really.
