Got a link we can look at?
Way cool! :D
Great!
Well Spotted
Well, now that has been brought up again...
The Postcard Annual this year just mentions eBid with one word - once again: eBid - yes, a one-word mention because nothing comes from eBid in way of press releases/notices... come on eBid management do some publicising in the respective collecting journals!
A recent article in our Postcard Magazine on alternative on-line sites totally ignored eBid!
When I contacted the editor to ask why, to quote in part: " ...I don't feel eBid should have something free when others have to pay. But I'm very happy to take a letter from you extolling their virtues. Perhaps the PTA members should also push for eBid to advertise in PPM. I have to say the two occasions I went on there, I wasn't impressed by the stock available for sale...but I haven't looked for a long while now, I must confess. First impressions..."
How sadly true - and that makes it hard to convince people to join in the eBid experience. The other alternative sites mentioned in the article did place adverts in the magazine you see...
Yes, I will write a letter in reply, but it has to be backed up by decent material to create enough interest and a willingness from eBid to participate directly.
Too many people I speak to at Postcard Fairs say the same thing unfortunately, it's a definite no win all round unless the site changes, certainly as far as Postcards are concerned...
I do quite well with postcards here - perhaps eBid would profit from a bit of postcard promotion? I don't just mean that I would sell more but that eBid might well make back the investment in increased fvf
It is not just Postcard Dealers and Collectors that have never heard of Ebid but the public in general, I'm sure small adverts placed from time to time would pay for themselves in new sellers and commissions from sales, I have been a member here for over twelve years and things have not changed, I like this site and would list a lot more here if there were only more sales, I have not made a sale here since 29th June while I have made over 150 sales elsewhere in the last two days so there is little point in my wasting my time listing here for nothing.
We make a point of saying Ebid to customers & if we get customers from else where alwys put a note in telling them about Ebid & have picked up quiet a few like that.
I already do that Pam and have done so for some time, also add links on sites where I can and I'm sure others do to, Ebid really needs to get known the the general public though.
I have a Facebook Page just for my EBid listings. I also use Pintersest - Google+ - Twitter. 75% of my listings go on. But they don,t bear any fruit.
I sell largely in the same areas - stamps & postcards and I'm doing around a sale per day - I hardly sell anywhere else but, when I do, I mention eBid. Like everyone else, I'd love some more promotion of eBid, of course, but, for me, sales are steady at worst and improving if I wear just slightly rose-tinted spectacles.
P.S. 9 items in the last 24 hours
Doh! - the link to me is OK - but the www.ebid.com is definitely wrong!!
ps - I had no control over that entry...
No it doesn't. See post 22.
Unbelievable to learn that eBid.com is still availble to lease (@$5000) - how come?
More bad news is that the Postcard Annual it appears in will not be published this year, so no updated entry!
