Quiet in here.... especially for a musical instrument forum!
So, who plays what then?
I’ve dabbled with various instruments over the years, but the only one I have really stuck to and can play properly is the drums…

Hi Coastal
I've been a performing Jazz and Blues singer now for over 30 years, but don't do so much now.
I am also a songwriter, and so I try to play keyboards and guitar but not to a performance standard.
I am starting to get into performance poetry and I lean towards the Tom Waits style.
Sorry, had the volume turned down.
My favoured instrument is the Harmonica, surprise surprise. I do play, not very well and not in public.
Due to a hand disability I am limited to the choice of instrument I can play. The only other possible one is the trombone, but I had a go at that when my son had lessons and could not get the embouchure correct.
So harp it is.
Rock/Blues/Jazz vocalist for 47 + years and i play blues harmonica.Might be coming up for 67 but my voice is as powerful as ever.
Seems that we are moving towards a jazz / blues theme... could be interesting with two singers a harmonica and drums... I was expecting to be inundated with guitarists...
Harmonica's are fantastic when played well... I had a one once... amazing instrument... if only I could have worked out how to pay it...
I'v been known to play the fool :D
Its in the beer
Anyone remember the Wooden Bridge in Guildford and The Target Club in Reading? They were always good gigs.
Our local venue was The John Peel in Bridgemary Gosport, played there countless times, loved the place. That was back in the 70's to early 80's. It's a plastic palace now I think. In it's time, it played host to The Piranas and The Joe Jackson Band, rumour has it that an early incarnation of Thin Lizzy played there also, but that could be just an urban legend.
I remember seeing a band there called The Pumphouse Gang, they were from the Isle of Wight. They were damb good never did see them again though, shame.
My main band at the time was a band called Lynx, Danny Gwilliam the guitarist went on to play with Shogun and Chinatown, did the Europe thing and I think a bit stateside.
I've stuck mainly to songwriting and poetry, and I still do a bit of singing at my Daughter's gigs if she wants a longer rest break.
Working on my performance poetry, maybe when I've got the act togather I can try and get some of you guys along for a bit of support.:D
I've played a few things over the years too.
Piano I played for ages. Played clarinet and glockenspiel for school band. Took up flute last year, but haven't really done much with it lately.
Oh, are we counting voices? I now have a voice and hearing problem, but I have been "singing" since I was 7, so a long time. Now it is just for church and too pass time in the car.
If its voices, then you can count me out - I couldnt even make the first showings of X Factor....pmsl
Funny you should say that.A few years back my wife and i were in Malta and i got up and done a few songs..Mustang Sally,The Letter and Hoochi Coochi man.Took me half an hour to get back to the wife.Everyone thought i was Joe Cocker.I kept saying no but everyone thought i was there incognito.I even signed autographs Spyder and they still juct smiled winked and said ok.Loads of free drinks. Its quite funny even now people see this old fella limp in on a walking stick stagger up to the mic and see me transform as i sing Wishing Well or Born To Be Wild or a drag down torn out blues.I miss having a band as my old band are now fixed up with a new singer. They come from a way a way and now i have no transport so its a pain to have to pick me up.Still it was a great few months to be at it again after 4 years of not being well.
Will the real Joe Cocker please stand up - you decide.

Hey Dexter,
You should try one of those lookalike agency things, If you get stuck and can't find a good one, I can get ya a few contact numbers.
I know how ya feel to be not performing. Like I say, I don't do much of that at the moment, except at some of my Daughter's gigs when she does the Backin Track stuff. She does live band as well, but there is more money in the BT's about £150 to £300 a night. I've got my own collection of Backing Tracks, and it is fun, but I would still like to do a few full band gigs.
One of the reasons I am getting the performance poetry thing togather is so I can still do some original stuff, I even intend to do some acapela, but mainly poetry with attitude.
From the poetry point of view I fancy myself as a bit of a Tom Waits (hey I can dream can't I?).
Maybe if I get the poetry thing goin' I might meet up with a keyboards and a bass and it could develope into a band thing, can only try.
Changed me pic.Now i just look old lol

I learned to play the recorder (like most?) I did keep it up for quite a few years and they do come out from time to time when the mood takes me. I would love to own (and play) a bass recorder, but they are sooooo expensive. I shall make do with the 3 I own.....
I recon, that we 'ave enough talent 'ere to form an Ebid band.
Any suggestions on a name?

What about writing a theme song for ebid?
If anyone willing to submit lyric, i will create the melody.
Sound fun! and its free!
Some while ago we had a musical themed thread promoting Ebid over Feepay using new lyrics to familiar tunes. It may give people some ideas.
