The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Right going to try this out.
I for one am getting a bit feed up of some of the negative posts that show up in a different part of this forum,So to count the negatives and the bad press this gives to ebid and its forum I would like people to post as many positives they have about the site.
Be it a list of sale and amount of profit or a great bit of feedback you have received or something new you have tried that has worked well with sales anything positive.
If you only have negatives then please don't post on this thread thank you.
Right i will start off.
The last 2 months for me have been the best 2 months on ebid with my sales total for the 2 months of 25 sales and each one a profit. that's good for me being a Hobbyist.
I have also seen more hits and higher visibility on google now i have switch from run till sold's to auto re-post's.
So things are on the up.

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
I have always been impressed by the helpful forum members and the kindness shown to me.
A while back I just happened to mention that I love fairies ...then in the post today a pair of totally lovely fairy ear rings arrived...sent by someone who had read my post :)
I think I might consider having my ears pierced :)
Ebid has been my home since 2008. I arrived here a couple of years earlier when I was trading on a number of sites but eBid is the only site I have stuck with.
Thanks everyone for being here...you have made my world so much more fun

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Good thread Hush
O.K. Even tho' I'm a business seller cos I make things and buy to sell on, I'm not here to make a living so it's not important for me to make lots and lots of sales. Having said that, not counting YDC, I've made 3 sales since Saturday - all from ex ebay customers that I 'sent' here. All of my feedback is from here which would be well over 100 if all my buyers had left me some! I've been here 8 months and am here to stay.
I do try and promote my auctions via twitter, did try facebook but didn't like it even though I got my first sale from doing that, and have printed out slips with the links to my stores which I enclose in every parcel I send, and will be taking to the craft fair this weekend to give out there. Even without barcodes and other numbers, my products are out there on Google, although I'm not that convinced the majority of people look to Google for small items like mine.
I have had a few problems when I first came, but support were brilliant, responded almost straight away and sorted out my queries quickly, how refreshing to have contact with a real person!
As for the forums, everyone is helpful and friendly and I count you all as my new friends :)

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
I have been on eBid since 2008, and have always appreciated the forums being so diversified. Also there are always members present willing to offer sound advise and help. eBid Support is second to none. It is refreshing to have a support system that is fair and responsive to both buyers and sellers. I also appreciate the fair fee structure that eBid has in place.
This is a very unique site that has a lot of potential for growth. I do believe that a seller can be successful here, if they avail themselves to the vast amount of advise and help found in the forums and also the site.

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Well that's a good start lets keep this up and see if we can balance out some of the negative threads on this forum.
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Many times I have wanted to really bash these people who come here and do nothing but complain,
along with wanting to change everything
I elected not to do so, mainly out of consideration for the nice people who were responding positively to the negativity.
This may be the time to do so., however I wont.
Ebid's made me a better person, smarter, more able to communicate with others, and many other reasons.
I love learning about almost everything, and Ebid has given me the opportunity to do just that.
The graphics, along with formatting alone is an education one will pay dearly for, and the opportunity to do this is here
on Ebid.
There aren't any negative feelings on my part for any part of this site.
I just want to do MY PART to help it be a success..
If I were these people coming here, wanting to change everything !!!...I would go back where I was.
This thread is long overdue, I'm anxious to read more

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
I love living on the sunny side of selling street................tho I do my fair share of buying here, too! I love the humor I can find on eBid, the chance to learn both useful and random things, the friendly attitude of most eBidders, and the increasing variety of listings.
People are quick to jump in and help, and usually are very patient with newbies and oldies who have questions, and I like the community spirit that is present on the forum. YDC is a great idea that not only helps various charities and communities worldwide, but gives a chance for friendly banter...................(Take that, you chicken, squirrel, and penguin..........stay away from my chocolate!!).
Support is second to none, and da boyz listen and take on board many credible, viable and site-promoting, buyer-and-seller-protecting ideas.
I enjoy selling online as I don't have to leave my home to do so (Except to go to the PO). I relish my friends here, and enjoy giving good sales service, as well as enjoying the goodies I buy.

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
What do I like about eBid?
Let me count the ways.
Well, I like that fact that I can list as many things as I want and it only cost me a one time sign up fee to do just that.
I like that I've learned quite a few things and learn something new every day. I managed to set up five shops and create some banners for them ... that kind of thing.
I also like that the forum members write some interesting and sometimes funny messages. I've learned about a thing called quality street and that potato chips are actually called crisps. haha
Now if only some of the postcard sellers in the UK (or elsewhere) would list some cards that would fit with my genealogy (my grandpa and grandma came from England). I'll keep searching the listings. :-)
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
For me eBid is more than just a place to sell goodies, it's a place to hang out with good friends. Thanks to all the wonderful eBid members for making this the best place to buy, sell and enjoy yourself on the Net, bar none. :)
Oh and support rocks, too. :)
Best wishes for many sales to all,
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Ebid has a good feel about (as far as I am concerned) I have learned a lot from other members re. on line selling and buying ( I do both) the computer and of course language as English is not my mother tongue. I haven't needed to bother ebid support only twice (I think) and the reply was always quick. So I am here to stay

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Good thread........
When I joined up it was because the site provided the best all around sales venue that I had seen on the net. I would have to say that with the recent additions made to the site in the last few months eBid is probably about as perfect as I could hope for.
I think simply put, eBid allows me: to sell how I would choose to sell and to build up custom as I would want to build up custom.
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Great thread Hush, for me, 38 sales this month & 2 more still in the pipeline, plus this was after a very good October as well.
So it's not just the UK where things are on the up.:o
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Yipeee another sale to add to the total so that's 26 for the past 2 months.
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
A couple more sales and this will be my best month on eBid. So far this year sales are up 300%, since I started just over 2 years ago they are up almost 1000%.
Add to that the low fees, great support, free stores, free relisting, variety of listing options, free Google Shopping, friendly folk on the forums, replies from a real person if you do have an issue, no constant rule changes, choice of payment method.
Apart from that I don't know why I bother with eBid.

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
I've had a relatively quiet November so far but I suppose closing my shops for a total of 18 days may contribute?
eBid has moved from somewhere where I sold during YDC to the main place I sell.
The business model is the only one which allows me to wait for the buyer for some of my very odd items.
Also, having been here a very long time, I much appreciate the fact that each time there has been a change it has been properly flagged and existing members have been more than fairly treated.
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Hello everyone. This November has been the best. My sales haven't been in the 100's, but thats ok.
This is the most I have sold since being on here. So far 6 items. To me thats a good start to selling more and more.
Thank you all for any and all advice I have gotten from you. I'm so glad I found Ebid. God Bless You All.

Mimi
Good to hear you are getting sales, the US is a little younger on eBid so things should improve over there even more.
One small thing, your store links need to be in your signature, and your reading roomlink is not correct, should be http:// you have a / missing.

Mimi, I'm sure that you have good reasons and I don't want to go off topic too far. But, have you considered offering international shipping on at least some of your items. Only Americans will find you easily. I had to go to the US eBid site to find you.
That's another positive of selling here. I've shipped items to the US, the UK, Austrailia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Holland ...
:-)

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
The proof that eBid as the selling platform, and Google and Google Shopping does work if Basic Key Words are included in item titles is confirmed by the sales I have made in the last four days Monday to Thursday.
As you can see
All the buyers were new to eBid as they only signed up a few minutes prior to buying from me.
They obviously had a feedback of "0" which some sellers appear to fear.
All four paid immediately without the need for an invoice being sent.
Lets be clear these were not high value items but on eBid they are still worth selling.

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Had to close my stores for quite a bit of this month but had my best 2 months in Sep/Oct with 28 sales, all at just 2% fvf :)

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
I came back to eBid to sell full time in 2008 and this November has been my best ever month here. Lol, Gazza and Mark will be able to go for a pint as I'm going to have to pay them nearly £6.00 on this months invoice and very happy I shall be to pay it http://www.fuduntu.org/forum/images/smilies/5170.gif... just think of what it would have cost elsewhere - eek !
24 ordinary sales and 5 YDC sales so far this month. It's not the most sales I've ever had in a month here but the buyers have been going for more expensive items than the norm.
One of the reasons I think that it has been so good this month is that Gazza and Mark listened to us and had the courage to clear out thousands of the dead listings and I have to say a very BIG thank you to them for that. http://www.pic4ever.com/images/clap.gif
Oh and on a final note all of my feedback is from eBid and not imported ... ahem, how did that happen, I thought nothing sold on an alternative site ?! http://www.ebid.net/forums/attachmen...8&d=1282259663http://www.ebid.net/forums/attachmen...8&d=1276525700

Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Just read a post by gazza saying that comic book barcodes are to long for google shopping but at time of post I have 1600 showing google shopping so I must be doing something right. Must be all down to key words then.

May be you have been positive and proactive.
Have you obtained exemptions on your shops from Google. :):)
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
key words in title for listings = greater chance of being seen on google/google products and better ranking in search results = more chance of a buyer finding you via your item /items = a vist/a sale /a book mark of you/your store your listings.
99% of my buyers are new to ebid they found me via google how do i know i ask them,
proper key words in titles = sales :)
-
Re: The Positive Thread!!!!!!
Thank you. I didn't notice that I forgot a slash in my signature. Thank you again.
