Lib Dems: Will require all new claimants for Jobseekers Allowance to have their English language skills assessed, with JSA then being conditional on attending language courses for those whose English is poor.
Dear Friends,
The next rounds of secret talks for two trade deals that will put our democracy, food safety and environmental standards in the hands of corporations are about to take place in Brussels and New York.
World leaders are working alongside major corporations to pass these dangerous deals -- but are refusing to tell us what’s inside the agreements. We need to speak out now to stop this corporate takeover.
Leaks from the negotiations paint a terrible picture of what the world could be like if these deals pass: sky-high costs for life-saving cancer treatment, further devastation of the world’s poor, and the right for big corporations to sue governments in secret courts for billions -- just for passing laws that protect families, workers and the planet.
With only days to go until the next rounds of negotiations begin, we need to get access to these texts urgently.
Add your name the petition to global leaders to publish the draft texts of these trade deals now: http://action.sumofus.org/a/TPP-TTIP/?sub=taf
Thanks!
I've signed it. This'll be what happens if we don't http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-27647477
Signed it
I have signed it also.
This is a good example of what I cannot understand about David Cameron. He tells the British public that he does not like the Westminster Parliament having to pass laws decided in Brussels because he says it represents a loss of British sovereignty. Yet, as the British representative at the EU’s Council of Ministers which decides the long term strategic direction for the EU he has signed up to this approach of negotiating the trans-Atlantic trade talks without telling the British public what is going on, he does not seem to be fighting against the proposed Trade Courts that will stand outside of the British legal system and which will represent a far greater loss of sovereignty than ever we have given to Brussels, and he seems happy for the consequential result that American corporate interests will start dictating Government policy and procurement.
If I were a cynical person I would say that his political style is to change his public presentation to mollify whatever the latest crisis in public opinion is and does not have any kind of strategic approach to running the country.
thanks to every one who signed, they reached the goal, its over a hundred thousand votes, and climbing , i think once a petition is handed in at the required numbers, a question regarding the petition can be asked in parliament ,or something like that,
i have voted as well.
