A few people seem to like it, but I think they're in a minority. I don't, and wouldn't, use it - too many problems seen reported on here. No idea what the fees are - I wouldn't use it even if it was free I'm afraid. Lots of hassle and lousy support IMO.
Thanks for the info i will have to look into it further before i make my decision to keep it or not! anyone else have any comments?
i used it..then removed it..wasnt great and was not that popular..
I think pppay is only available to the UK

The fees are listed on the PPPay home page.
It is nice if transferring funds between two PPPay accounts as there are no fees. Other than that there is not a lot to recommend it. Too complicated for buyers using it for the first time - who think they have paid but in fact have not until they complete a (non-refundable) penny check. The buyer also has to pay a fee to send money - which many do not like.
Rather like a toy a child has lost interest in. A pity, as a good alternative to PayPal (within the EU at least) would be a blessing.
I've never used it,
Jane
For anyone who maintains a positive pppay balance to buy/sell on eBid then it's great - for everyone else it's a bit crap and in no way comparable to paypal.
They're supposedly controlled by the eBid site owners but no-one has notified them of the site re-brand judging upon their outdated home page logo :p

This screenshot shows the fees for UK buyers/sellers (yes it really would cost a newbie £0.49 extra to buy something from you and it would cost you a minimum of £0.75 to withdraw your money):

pole I 10ft touch a barge them wouldn't with << rearrange the sentence ;)
hmmm....I think i may remove this option....seems like a no win way to trade on both sides.thanks for the info guys!! you're all great!!
If you are selling high value / high risk items then the Escrow feature may be useful.
Ive had a few buyers pay me via pppay never had a problem. I think I prefer pppay to peepal. But until ebid gets more people then peepal will be everyones option.
When I first joined Ebid I looked at it, but there were quite a few complaints on the forums about them and I decided against it.
I opted for Google checkout instead. I've sold about 500 items on here, but have only ever received about 10 Google payment and those have mostly been from the same person.
Google checkout is very much a UK/US thing. Although anyone from almost any country in the world can sign up to it, I think it's very little heard off outside UK/US.
The more popular option for Europe is Moneybookers and I would love to see that integrated on Ebid.
no its all craft stuff for £1 each so i don't think i need escrow.
thanks for everyone advise!
I joined it last night because I wanted to offer a PayPal alternative and give buyers the option of escrow. Thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but I was not impressed.
They couldn't verify me because they were unable to debit the undisclosed amount from my card (nothing wrong with the card, they were able to verify its validity). Apparently they intended to keep this sum (v. dodgy in view of the fact that it could be any amount). Found this out from their FAQ where they claim this is clearly stated when you put in your card details (it is NOT).
Also, the terms and conditions that you must tick agreement to when you sign up are freely editable by the user (I deleted them completely). This made me laugh but none of the above inspires confidence. They can't even get HTML email right (poorly encoded and turns up as plain text containing all the desired HTML formatting as text- very hard to read)
Like other have said it's ok if your a member already but I have had several new buyers tried to pay by it and then wonder why they don't get the goods when they think they have paid but haven't verified by the penny check:(.
I now only use it if asked by any one who already has it.
Good thread, Thanks guys, just the advice I was looking for :-)

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, had too many problems with them
I don't sell a great deal on ebid but strangely I have sold 3 separate item in the last week, the big surprise upon asking the buyers was that all 3 were re-directed via Google which is excellent.
All 3 were completely new members to Ebid and all 3 joined PPPay and made payment by that method without as much as a glitch so I really do not know what all the fuss is about.
I have been with PPPay since I started here and have had 3 transactions without any problem whatsoever, beauty of it is that it is FREE to send and receive money between PPPay members, I love it. I have just stopped accepting Paypal here I am so sickened by them and their petty bureaucracy. I also accept moneybookers which I find better than Paypal.
Would I recommend PPPay - Yes Most Definitely !
I wouldnt go back to PPPay if they paid me.
I had huge trouble with them a while back - even had trouble closing my a/c down.
Cant recommend them to anyone
Maybe it was teething troubles as they really have not been going too long if it was as you said a while ago.Quote:

PPPay could one day be regarded as the best, they certainly are the fairest, cost wise.
Thought for the day:
Never say never, always be prepared to give a second chance. We can all make mistakes.
They certainly were a fledgling business if only 3 years old and on limited rescources.
I can only speak for the today and I find them to be First Class and without problems of any sort. They certainly are way fairer on costs than anything else out there and save a lot in fees.
I have tonight took off pppay from every listing (well showing as a payment method icon) Just got a few thousand text to edit
From reading this tread it seems that many people do not like PPpay
But that some find it OK.
It does have that one advantage of no fees between PPpay members.
It also has a very strange name and its hard to say, and the name is too similar to Paypal.
Paymate is similar to Paypal, but sounds entirely different.
It was started in Australia and is now based in the USA.
I sell on ebid and have currently only got Paypal as my payment option as I am in in New Zealand.
But I would like to offer another method.
I am tossing up between Paymate and Google Checkout.
But Money Bookers is another option.
I get the feeling that Google are not that 100% keen on keeping Google Check Out.
I have bought and sold using pppay with no problems, as yet, and offer it as an option but it isn't very popular. Haven't had a payment via them for ages.
I too would like to see Moneybookers intergrated with eBid.
PPPay - sounds like that guy on that Dawn French show Vicar of Dibley.
I started a thread in Suggestions requesting this yesterday, maybe a little input from you there would help.

I too have bought and sold with PPPay with no problems - Unlike PayPal , PPPay is regulated by the FSA whereas PayPal is not and you do have recourse to them if you have a problem.
You should also take a long look at www.paypalsucks.com and read what is said there.....
Paypal sucks has been around for a long time.
I just cannot understand why anyone would post a link in ebid forum which is viewable by the public, that highlights the problems that some have had with a payment company, therefore putting off potential customers. I would hazard a guess and say that over 90% of ebid sellers get most of their payments through paypal - no need to put customers off it.
