Might be worth checking your listings,...
...particularly newly posted ones if you use any form of template. This http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...=1#post1628489 has likely broken many templates. I also think there are other unannounced restrictions going on behind the scenes that have not been notified.
Seem to spend most of my time nowadays checking if eBid have screwed up my stuff on the site. Beginning to wonder if it is worth it for the sparse return.

You obviously understand the cryptic notice from eBid Towers.
Any chance you might explain it to those of us who do not?
Thanks

<h1> and <h2> I don't understand.
Anyone that has used HTML in their listing templates may find their listings have been altered (polite term :)) because the template will/may have been changed by eBid deleting - All code before <body> tag will be removed. All code after </body> will be removed.
Tony and Sue - You aren't using listing templates so it won't be a problem for either of you.

Thanks, Gill. That's a relief.

Just checked a few of mine, and all seems OK - so far - with my templates.

It all depends on how your template is written. Though I can't see that eBid is stripping everything outside the body tags as they state; my listing templates still work - which they wouldn't if they were stripping the code.

All submitted HTML shouldn't have a BODY tag in the first place really as your HTML is only an addition to the main eBid listing details page which already houses all the BODY/HEAD tags.
All pages, in SEO terms at least, should really only have a single H1 tag also, which in this case is our listing title near the top of the page.
All changes are being made purely for SEO purposes in an attempt to increase the promotion of your listings higher up the search results pages on Google.

Re: Might be worth checking your listings,...
Your original post stated that "All code before <body> tag will be removed". Taken literally that would mean any style definitions and any JavaScript (external links or defined within the header block) would be deleted - with the subsequent breaking of some templates.
Based on very limited experimentation following the announcement you are not, as stated, deleting ALL code prior to the <body> tag. As yet links to external .css files and JavaScript seem to be being left alone and working. If that remains the case then the change will likely be a non-issue.

Should or shouldn't, eBid always allowed the full header block and <body> tags in submitted HTML and it was then up to you how you processed it. So, as you allowed it, it is a bit off to say that content shouldn't have been there in the first place.
