Agree with this. If there's an address discrepancy, I always message the buyer before shipping, learned this the hard way, so it's something I do each and every time. IMHO you did the right thing by messaging and waiting; unfortunately, with the holidaze, there are probably some folks who will be caught up in offline stuff who may not check their messages regularly. I'd refund and relist if you don't hear back within a reasonable time frame, as the original buyer can always repurchase if they really want the item and, if not, it gives someone else a chance to buy. :)
Good luck, hope this gets sorted soon.
Best wishes for many sales to all,
Unless someone specifically asks for a different delivery address, I never check the Paypal address - I rely on the one supplied through eBid.
My thinking is that it is the buyers responsibility to provide eBid with the correct address.
I did once have a buyer with two houses in Sweden, a winter one and a summer one. He had supplied both addresses to eBay, and omitted to specify to them which one to use on my sale.
Needless to say, it was the wrong one, and he had to wait until summer before he got the item.
If they pay using paypal & you do not ship to the address that paypal has on file, you will have no seller protection & will lose any claim filed against you for item not received.
Thank you for this thread. Because I had recently read it I checked the two addresses on today's sale and they don't match!
Go to your paypal transaction details - it will be confirmed or not there. They usually are listed in PP but sometimes not on a selling platform if the buyer did not buy at all before or with the different addresses before. It may very well be verified by PP and you would be fine.
