My Wordpress eBid promotions page
Just thought I'd throw this one together and see what you lovely people make of it, constructive criticism welcome!

That online Wordpress editor is a bit of a nightmare to use though, soooo sloooow to respond, and one has to guess and prod at where the invisible layout is. Still, can't grumble too much considering the price, eh? ;)
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
Not bad, I have a similar landing page that leads to two of my eBid stores. I thought long and hard about using Wordpress, even dabbled with it but in the end I chose to use Wix as it was much easier to use.
Here's my landing page:
Mandart
ebid staff - this link leads to a landing page that redirect back to eBid - it's not a naughty link leading elsewhere - I promise!
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
Thanks. I thought it's OK for a start, maybe later if I can be bothered I could look at adding some bells and whistles to it with animated buttons and more text, just depends what's available on the free site, one would hope that the main Wordpress plugin depository is fully accessible.
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
I have two sites for landing pages.
I used Weebly for free site. Here's my landing pages plus

@Mandart
You did some changes from what I remember from the last time.

Yes, I've been tinkering with it a bit - one of my failings I'm afraid.... :)
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
Nice! I did notice a couple of things...

Other than that I like what you've done with the faux shop pages, linking each product to an eBid item, nice idea! I'll have to think about some static pages, I don't really have a product like you do though (I don't make anything, I'm just selling my bits and pieces).

Yes, that is a template for the blog. I want to do something else with that area, but being blonde, it takes me a while to think things out. :)
The Contact > B I plan on deleting. I had placed the blog template under the contact area.
Still thinking what I want to do.
I like that I have a small grouping of my items listed and linked here. I can pinned items from weebly to Pinterest and get some interest in weebly website. I wanted to try to get more of a history of my mom's and my quilts, plus get some business to eBid shops.
I am hoping that this summer I will have time to locate my mom's quilts and get some digital pictures instead of scanning the old pictures.
I want to add items for some of the new items I added to one of the shops.
The one thing that took me some time was getting my items with the Pinterest button. First time around I only had half the code and finally realized there was more.
I don't do Facebook or Twitter so I don't think I can put those buttons on my sites.
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
I did edit and deleted the page "B" on one of the sites.
On the quiltpolice site, I was trying to edit and add some of my new items and I GOOFED.
I can't remember how I did my page :D
I have to sit and try to clean up my mess. Thank goodness I didn't press the "publish" button with all my errors.
Re: My Wordpress eBid promotions page
Look for a book called Don't make me think, by Steve Krug which I use to make sure my websites are readable at a glance. So easy to get a cluttered look, and many of the "we will make a website for you" people do a poor job.
I don't use Weebly, Wordpress, or Joomla because they have limits in what they will allow you to do, and editing afterwards can sometimes be a nightmare. I can code freehand, but I use a simple free wysiwyg web editor like Pagebreeze to edit pages, and upload to the web with Filezilla most of the time.
- I don't overlay text on a background as it slows comprehension.
- All text must be the same font
- A link is always blue and underlined, unless it looks like a button, and my buttons always have a blue border with curved edge
- All images and links have an alt description on hover
- I do not allow lines of text to have more than 12 words, and control that with a max-width style command
- Text is left aligned for speed in reading
- No paragraph longer than 4 lines without a space to next paragraph.
- Any action I want reader to take is visible without scrolling
- Keep it simple
