YDC 185 Update September Start
Hello my lovely ebidding pals
I have decided that it is about time the YDC got up and running again. With a handful of events between now and Christmas, we'll all be our old YDC selves before we know it :)
The next YDC event will run from 24th-28th September
I have been busy building an Eastbourne Fundraising Hub on Facebook as home to local Eastbourne community appeals and events and as a way of collecting info on local groups for whenever I get to choose the YDC fundraiser.
The group I have chosen this time is
You Raise Me Up
A bit about who and the why
Who are we?
The ‘You Raise Me Up charity’ was founded by the late Jane Brooks and her husband Fraser in June 2011. The charity’s sole purpose is to raise funds to support families that have suffered the loss of a young person aged 16-25 years.
Why?
On 3rd May 2011 Fraser and Jane’s beautiful daughter Megan Brooks collapsed and died suddenly. As parents of Megan they found themselves in desperate need of comfort from those that had experienced the same loss and to see how they had coped and got through such a terrible time.
Emotional Support
The aim of the charity is to be able to provide compassion, support and simply to be able to say “we totally understand” rather than “we cannot imagine what you are going through”. We have trained, experienced counsellors available including child and adolescent counsellors to help you through these dark times. We also run monthly support groups, where you can meet other families going through similar emotions and by coming together you will start to feel less alone.
Financial Support
The emotional and financial strain that a funeral can put on those left behind is devastating and none of us have life insurance for our children. The charity therefore aims to help with financial support for the funeral a child deserves.

Can't wait to get started

Will start looking for items to sell... only one of our three charity shops is open. I may have to venture all the way to Faringdon (two more there).

Wow!...That would really be 'above and beyond' but so welcome :)

Good choice of charity! Whatever I list will be skinny enough to go through a mail box, so don't go getting your hopes up that you will get ME!!!

Sounds good to me. I actually suggested a mailbox YDC recently because I thought that asking a neighbour a favour (assuming some of us were still staying at home) would be simpler if it was to ask them to post the YDC goodies in a post box rather than ask them to make a special trip to the post office.
Thanks for joining in...you are always very welcome, Ma'am xx

I've been having a look round, think I've one or two things to list - half eaten sandwich, cold cuppa tea etc... but you'll have to give me a nudge closer to the time, the memory's not that good these days....
