Can't believe the two weeks have nearly gone! Thank you from me too.
G'day all - So glad you've all enjoyed the journey! & I'll add my thanks also to Bro & Sil for taking us along. I've learnt a lot about Taiwan.
Most importantly - OUR well known eBid logo, has been spread around yet another exotic location, & I thank Ken & Des for doing that on our behalf - Cheers!
Now firmly hold up again at the Dong Wu hotel in Taipei, our heroes are cramming as much in as possible B4 the off very shortly.
Today we visit the sites from Elephant Mountain & the Taipei Botanical Gardens - Enjoy!
13th. March 2018
Shuanglian, Taiwan
Well, we were quite a bit more active today, and just as well really.
Our first visit was over on the other side of town to Elephant Mountain.
Not a really big Mountain mind you, but something of a "leg-stretcher" with quite a lot of steep stairs.
I resolved to count the stairs but after a mere 90 of them I was already winded.
By 180 I had given up counting and was starting to quietly throw away stuff from my backpack to lighten the load.
All worthwhile though as the 'must-see' view of the City (and Taipei 101) is excellent.
It's a curious thing though - despite the obvious massive size of Taipei 101 you really have to stand near the actual building and look up to appreciate it.
It's actually difficult to crane your neck enough to see the top parts.
Next off was the Botanical Gardens, for an aboretumnal change.
We were surprised to see a whole section devoted to Australian native plants and trees - a reminder as to how special they are.
It was quite cool and peaceful wandering around there I must say.
Back to our Hotel via a smelly Cab - most unusual 'round here - for a late lunch, TV and a bit of a snooze. It's a tough life.
That's your lot for today, as they say, Cheers.

G'day all :o - Well this is our last report from the actual island of Taiwan. Awh! - the hols are just about over!
At the time of writing this, Bro & Sil are at least 10 hours into their homeward journey.
We may yet get some late pix, but they'll be from home turf later! It was great while it lasted, & went all too quickly.
I'm sure Ken & Des will agree! - Anyhow, enjoy this last tour of another Taoist Temple & a final few Taipei street scenes.
BTW - there is another trip on the cards to India during November - hope ya can join us on that one!

Shuanglian, Taiwan
Hi all. This is likely to be our last post, so to speak.
I do have some photos on my 'phone that I could not transfer to the Tablet I am using so I might upload those once we get home to Brisbane.
One Temple visit today - the Qingshan Temple, a Taoist place of worship.
This God saved the population from the plague so a worthy reason to have a Temple.
It's a 3 story timber building with some quite special woodwork in the ceilings. No nails were used in the construction.
We head off to the Airport in a couple of hours - we hope you have enjoyed the photos and the tiny insight into Taiwanese culture that they may provide.
It is a very organised, interesting and safe place - excepting the earthquake risk - and we recommend a visit if you are able.
Oh, Typhoons are an issue also but they are seasonal of course and can be avoided.
Cheers to all.
