Have you read any of the M.C. Beaton 'Agatha Raisin' mysteries? Those are good genteel whodunnits. Quite funny too.

I still like the gentler style of writing I grew up with, Mary Stewart & Joyce Stranger for instance.
Panic by Jeff Abbott. I'm only about seven chapters in at the moment but I'm liking it.
I've read most of them, found them entertaining. Have put a few up if either of you want to read more.
I quite like the settings for these stories. Funny thing is, she sold better in America initially than she did here. Her publisher is in New York!
I've just finished reading When the Wind Blows by James Patterson
A little more sci fi (which I didn't expect) than his usual main stream thrillers, but I quite enjoyed the read.
Moving on to Without Mercy by Jack Higgins - not read him before
At risk of repeating what I said for Patricia Cornwell, I used to read everything Jack Higgins wrote... until they became so formulaic there was little point. Hope you've either got an early one there, or he's back on form (er... is he still writing?) Um... that sounds a bit more negative than I meant, sorry! Hope you enjoy it regardless of my whinge. ;)
Thanks Bykimbo,
I didn't actually get on with the Jack Higgins book, although my daughter enjoyed it. I'd give him another go though.
I have now just finished Book of the Dead by Patricia Cornwell and apart from the last few pages it was a really hard work and very disjointed. I shan't be reading any more of hers as it was a real disappointment and I had really enjoyed all the other Kay Scarpetta series - well up until the last couple anyway.
On to something lighter now and Hot Six by Janet Evanovich - I am gradually reading all in the series and have only got 9 and 10 to go. I find them very entertaining and easy to read. My 14 and 15 year old daughters love them too.
Just had a birthday and have a nice pile of books to get through in the next few weeks.
I've read all the Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Plum books. Love her sense of humour. Also like that those books can be read over again - unlike some mystery books - as it's not all about the mystery.
