Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
I have just received an email from Ebay informing me I have to sign up for managed payments.
Comsequently I'm now looking for a new place to sell and I've been researching this site.
I sell stamps among other things so I started browsing the stamps listings.
Something didn't feel right and I felt uncomfortable browsing the listings.
I couldn't put my finger on it so I pulled up Ebay and Ebid and did side by side comparisons.
Ebays thumbnails are very much larger than Ebids and in fact you can make an informed buying decision without opening the listings
This is not the case with Ebid and in fact the thumbnails are too small to make out any real detail.
Whilst Ebid has many more listings per page than Ebay this isn't really useful since they just present as a meaningless blur.
To compete effectively with Ebay please increase the size of your thumbnails to that of Ebays :)
thanks for reading

Welcome, how nice of you to join us and give us the benefit of your wisdom without really using the site.
If you are a seller+, you can list any number of listings with no listing fees. You can organise them in shops. You can take payments the way you wish to. We have a nice community of stamp sellers here and a growing number of buyers.
You will find that, if you stay here, the other place (we are discouraged from using the name) will start to feel strange and uncomfortable after a bit.

Amazing that you should think that eBid is competing with eBay!
Welcome anyway!

I have been on ebid since 2006 and was unaware eBid was competing with eBay
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
Just in response to your original complaint . . .I have sold a lot of stamps on eBid. The size of the thumbnails doesn't seem to deter buyers. I think serious buyers click on the icon automatically to see the full listing.
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
If I'm honest I don't think eBid will ever compete with *bay, although they could do some things to be higher in the ranking which is wishful thinking
I like the thumbnails here they are a comfortable size for people browsing
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
Hi,
I am also new to ebid following ebay's latest announcement.
As an occasional seller I did not feel it warranted paying out £69 for lifetime free listings etc.
However as a SELLER (not SELLER+) I have found 2 issues that may lead me not to use ebid:-
1) The absence of a picture by the listing ie you have to click on the item to see the single picture submitted
2) The absence of the link to paypal.
Ebay is an easy site to use and you can see items without having to click on them. The fact that SELLER+ permits up to 15 photos is an advantage in itself so why not permit the SELLER to have the single photo against the item listed without having to click on the item.
Paypal is useful to keep sales in then I can submit bids from my earnings, pay fees etc without the need to touch my bank account.
So at present still undecided on EBID. How about considering these 2 suggestions ?
Thanks
Kevin
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
There is noting to stop you accepting Paypal on any sales you make, just that it is not integrated if you are a Seller and not Seller+. although you could use Platinum Listings which cost 5p per item and have integrated Paypal AND you get a thumbnail against the item.
You need to bear in mind that for Seller there is no listing fee and a low Final value fee which is also not charged on postage.
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
I've used Platinum Listings since I started on Ebid and consider them a sort of Pay As You Go Seller+. I wish they got a bit more of a boost as an alternative to Seller+, especially for sellers that don't have a lot to list.
To see the full range of selling packages have a look at Help at the top of the page > FAQs > Selling.
Re: Conparison Ebay v Ebid thumbnails.
Just discovered the other day, on the pop up or the small picture ...press open in new tab ..you will then get the full size
so on your listing , instruct buyers to do this ...
all the nest..mark
