How do I use a Knitting Nancy?
Ok, I just dropped my sim card in a basket full of knitting needles, wool etc. Of course it had to be emptied to get the SIM back and I came across a knitting nancy. (At least that is what I was told the name for this is) I remember how to make the cord with it, but I can't remember how to set it up to start. Any help?

Coo, this thread takes me right back to childhood at my Grandma's house. She taught me needlework and then I used to sit for ages with a Knitting Nancy made from cotton reels and nails at the top. What a lovely memory.

Yes Gill it is a lovely memory. I started this way too -but weren't the heads on the nails a bit difficult too! Dad didn't understand when he was knocking the nails in! They were not like the nice Nancy's which followed on -
like mine which I got for Janet when she was a youngster - smooth "heads" to work the wool over and colourful, stripey, and a happy face on it!

Thank you very much. I will attempt to do a bit later. Might not work well, as one of the nails is a little wonky.
