How do people post banknotes?
Hope I'm not interrupting, seems to be a lot of tumbleweed rolling through here, but hopefully that means happy coin dealers!
I'm not a collector, but during my decluttering I've found various old banknotes from the 1980s. E.g. $20 Australian dollars and $5 Canadian. They're not mint, but I guess if a collector is on a budget they might want them. I might try ironing them, or is that a terrible thing to do?
Also I'm worried about evil buyers claiming they've not arrived and using Paypal to get a refund. In my ideal world I'd get UK banknotes in return, but I guess that's rather naive.
Re: How do people post banknotes?
If they are collectable, I post them in stiffened envelopes but what you have sounds like fodder for left over currency dot com. An old Aussie $5 fetches £1.92 at the moment (a current one is £2.53, for comparison purposes)... No need to iron them ;)

Surprisingly, looking on the other side, old ones seem to go for around double face value. Of course I'd research past sales here if I could.
Stiffened envelopes, but what, registered post? Have you had any "it didn't [cough] arrive" issues? (Must of been the dog wot ate it, guv)
Thanks for letting me off ironing. Wasn't looking forward to that in the present weather! :)
Re: How do people post banknotes?
on here I just send them - have had no issues - on the dark side everything goes signed for.
Re: How do people post banknotes?
hmm had some old predecimal notes & coins waiting foir me to get around to listing and was concerned that if I ironed the notes I might get accused of money laundering :P
Re: How do people post banknotes?
I've got some banknotes to list as well, but have also been trying to decide about the shipping.

Yay! \o/ \o/ \o/ :)
Seriously though, should I do that, or is it like polishing antique silver with wire wool?
Also I could risk snide comments from SWMBO such as "Ahah, so you DO know how to use an iron!".
