Re: We need more boat and marine parts.
The numbers of parts might be slowly going up but the variety is still abysmal.
I did a search for some items I want to buy today and turned up a host of very similar items all way over priced from just a few sellers. Most of them were the same items as I found with the same searches a year or so ago.
No progress in reality since Julies original post and it looks more and more as though there never will be.Sadly talking to others it seems as though the lack of variety and the host of run till sold forlorn hopes is a real disappointment for many visitors.

Yes total number of listings are going up which is good.
But our Alexa keeps going down and has been going down since June last year.
That is our traffic is going down.
The other two major alts Alexa's have gone up or stayed the same.

Really….?????...I don’t believe….!!!!!!!........
a less chit-chat going ''up'' always, for real auction stuff doesn't matter much in here.......
Re: We need more boat and marine parts.
I tried a search for items to suit a certain make of older car.
On the other side you could just about build a complete car from the stuff listed. On here, you could only buy a sign to put on its parking space.
Re: We need more boat and marine parts.
And people wonder why ebid does not get so many buyers as ebay !

Not really, but without a magic wand or a whip to force people to list more stuff, what's your realistic, practical solution?
Re: We need more boat and marine parts.
Ebid need to do some marketing to bring more sellers and buyers.
I have many ideas, quite a few of which would not involve huge amounts of money.

Well, you know where the suggestions forum is. :)
Re: We need more boat and marine parts.
I didn't know there was one.
But I'll have a quick look.
But really, the boys don't seem to have much interest in marketing ebid.

I beleive this has been established long ago.
More Marine/Boat parts??!! eBid needs to fill vacant and low listing item categories period. Not just Boat parts, car parts, electronics or even half eaten grilled cheese sandwiches.
Yes listings keep going up and up on a daily basis. This is due to a few newbies coming in but mainly due to existing members listing more and more of the same category items. List more, sell more? Well isn't that the darndest thing, closest I have heard to logic since about an hour ago.
There is no Magic wand that will fill eBid's categories. I beleive the categories which are full now will just get fuller as years go by just as they have in the past.
Without the marketing the fees will remain low and the site will remain a fantastic site for those who sell in the categories which are filled and get fuller day by day. If you expect eBid to grow to anywhere near it's potential by word of mouth or seller "self promoting" I beleive you are kidding yourself.
For those who are happy with the millions of listings currently on eBid then keep listing and sell as much as you can as this is the site to do just that. Don't be scratchin your heads wondering why "buyers" aren't flocking here. Buyers are here and they are buying what is listed.
Time and time again sellers come, list their items then leave due to what they consider "slow sales". eBidders then state they should give it time. I have even seen posts where it has been suggested sellers just leave their items listed here and just keep listing more to eventually make a sale. I wonder if we could convince millions upon millions of on line sellers to go ahead and sacrifice their earnings for whatever period of time it might take for them to reach the sales numbers they are used to especially when the site doesn't want to market itself.
Not trying to be negative because there is no need for it. It is what it is. If anybody has a genious idea of how to strongly compete without strong marketing, well let's hear it!
