That's not always an option. Imagine the abusive husband, the paranoid wife or the concerned children with an elderly parent - they will all push for more information. Sometimes it causes problems when people think you are hiding things.

Brilliant 'phone, isn''t it, Sherlock? I occasionally bring up 'calls' to see how many have been blocked; loads of little red crosses showing - imagine the nuisance of having to get up to answer those!

I did not get the phone, I bought the Truecall Call blocker, which technology the Bt phone uses. The internet dashboard is really interesting, it shows amogst othe things how may calls were abandoned during the screening process.
Re: WARNING: Current telephone scam
I guess if you are happy with your current 'phone, then that is an option. However, my twin deck call blocker cost just over £40 (half price offer from site I can't mention) so was a brilliant bargain.
Re: WARNING: Current telephone scam
Well, of the telecom providers I have experience of none have provided Caller ID for free. Without that I don't see how a blocker would work. Happy to be educated though.

You have to pay for Caller ID - sorry, forgot that I didn't originally have that - but apart from that, everything else is built into the 'phone.
- Block up to 100% of nuisance calls
- Auto copy contacts between handsets
- 1.8 inch full graphic colour screen
- 60 minute answer machine record time and handsfree speaker
- Uses Truecall - call blocking technology
£49.99 and worth every penny!

That clarifies things. Which takes me back to my original post - telecom providers should have to provide it for free; I don't see as there is any cost to them in doing so. I recall that when I was with BT the costs of 'extras' was very high per month.

Quite agree.
Getting back to Caller ID, I should imagine that the majority of 'phone users would now have that. But, they are, of course, still required to get up and either answer or ignore the caller. This 'phone stops the unwanted calls - the 'phone doesn't ring.
Peace at last :)
Re: WARNING: Current telephone scam
I pay £2 per month to Virgin for caller ID, it was'nt an extra expense though has I already had it, but I do agree it should be free.
Re: WARNING: Current telephone scam
I've found blowing a whistle down the phone also stops these type of calls.
