Re: Do books sell on ebid?
I agree with Pink.
There is still a market for specialised books.
I bought a book from a shop having a sale for $10, 2 months ago and then read it and then sold it in one day for $30 here in NZ on TM. (so I must have listed it too cheap!
I would have listed it on ebid, but the international postage for books is just horrendous

What about travel writing and maybe travel guides, is it better to put those on mid December to catch the January rush to book holiday? Any experienced advice will be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations on your first sales, hope that there will be many more. The trouble with cookery books is that in the run-up to Christmas all the celebrity chefs will be busy promoting their latest books, so it may be difficult to get a look in. Travel writing is popular, escapism from the winter outside perhaps? but sales of travel books have fallen off a cliff lately so I wouldn't bother with those.
I have had a break from selling in any case but I have also recently injured my wrist, so I won't be able to list anything for a month or two, but I am optimistic that when i return books will still be selling reasonably well.

I bought it as it had a story on the Hood's planned sister ships.
My Dad's uncle was lost on the Hood.

Can you not list on ebid for NZ only?

I could but there are probably only 10 ebid members in NZ.
So my chances of selling anything would be about zero.

Thats not true (the zero bit)
I assume people in New Zealand do use Google as a search tool.
Therefore the correctly listed book (key words etc) at a fair price, that New Zealanders are looking for will sell.
And indoing so will increase the awareness of eBid and increase its membership.
Re: Do books sell on ebid?
There is a saying in Spanish (I'll translate it)...."He who does not venture forth never crosses the sea.''
If it's not listed, it can't sell.
You lose nothing but a couple minutes to list, and the benefits could be big. It's not just current members that buy!
