Re: adding tax to auctions
@AddyGirl
No problem with asking questions.
In your policy or details about your shop, you can mention that your sales tax is built into your prices.
I don't worry about stating the sales tax in my listings or on my invoices.
Every year I send in my Sales and Use Tax form with a check they are happy.
I am still fairly new here and still adding items to a couple of stores. Now that I see how the additional stores are added, I will need to set up my policies and other items that I would of normally set up in the beginning.
I got so many fires going and not enough fire hoses to put out the fires. LOL
Re: adding tax to auctions
Oh
When I calculate the sales tax on items and they come out at odd prices, I always raise them up and that extra monies give me a buffer space with not only the State Sales tax but the county taxes.
Ex: An item calculated comes to 2.65, I will raise it up to $2.75.

Sounds ok to me! It seems easier than having people wait for me to send them an invoice with the correct Sales Tax, also - I had a conversation with my accountant (a rare thing indeed) and he said just charge the max and refund. I couldn't do that on e**beh, so I wondered what goes here. I guess as long as we pay, it's ok. I'll adopt your plan. Thank you for your generosity, quilt police! :D
Re: adding tax to auctions
Looks like over a year later and bulk editing sales tax has still not been added.

I would check with your state taxing authority. Your method results in you collecting more than the actual tax due from those customers that aren't subject to the specific surtax (county or local) and could constitute a criminal act. I've found it better to collect only the state's base rate and pay the surtax myself. Of course, you really should get advice from someone familiar with your state's sales/use tax statutes.
