With a one off item like that then I suppose the seller has to carefully manage her risk in terms of making sure the auction is ended quickly if someone does buy it now and vice versa.

Time will tell. Ebay, for all its woes does sell stuff for us.

QXL was a big letdown (1 item in 4 months sold) and our own .com does well too.

we can all do our bit to help but I would expect ebid to be doing the majority to promote itself as a safe, reliable site from which to buy a variety of items.
