It's an insult, you don't know me and have never traded with me yet feel happy to tell people to steer clear.
I've cleared my auctions and asked Ebid to close my account,I'm not staying here to have...
Quote From Kebo "I do share MelmacAlf's opinion which was stated very clearly. I am something of a classic car fan myself but would never buy from, or recommend, bacon."
Happily I'll survive...
Quote "Baconsdozen, I hardly think your constant negativity and telling any potential buyers that you effectivly cant be bothered with ebid anymore is going to give them the confidence to buy from...
Thanks Dzambo
For a long time now the only use I've found for ebid is to get products shown on google shopping but as most of my sales come via the Baconsdozen web site and the majority of the rest...
Afraid so,I've done the long haul, years and years waiting for sales to pick up but they never have.Ebid might work for some sellers but it's never been anywhere near what I'd call a success for me. I...
Stand by to be over run with sales.
Sadly its been that way for as long as I've been on here. Ebid just doesn't attract enough buyers and sellers.
Sales for parts etc aren't as much slower as non existent,In the categories I look at they are the same old junk month in month out all on run till sold.
Things are very quiet on the old car circuit,I suppose in times of recession its the luxuries that go first.
The market for imperial tools can only shrink as lots of older vehicles still get...
I suppose the lack of response or activity on any threads in this section show why sales are few and far between, there just aren't any real numbers of people looking either to buy or even just out of...
Thanks for the suggestions,I'll start using some other categories.
The American industry still uses mainly imperial measurement, the vast majority of American spanners will use spanners to fit nuts...
I sell tools for modern cars but specialise in the older imperial based stuff for older ones.
These would fit in a number of categories.Which would seem the most sensible?
Another monopoly ripping off its customers with big price increases and a crummy 'service'.
Royal mail has lost out big time om parcels with other companies able to undercut, hopefully the same will...
Spread your items around and use the same name on both sites to double the chance of people finding you.
I don't like ebays high fees so tend to list stuff on 99p start no reserve. The bulk of the...
The reality is that ebid expect their customers to advertise the site. They provide you with a site to list and sell your products, the rest is up to you.
It seems a fair comment on Inas blog,I doubt the remark that some of the smaller auction sites could pool resources will go down too well but some sort of drastic action is needed amongst the also...
I don't have a marine store as such but I sell clothing, gloves and souwesters for the sailor or fisherman.I don't know if it's allowed to put a link on here but you can find it easily by typing...
I thought I'd have a look at the over a quarter million items in the "Cars and vehicles" section.
Just under 40 were actually cars.
Wow,spoilt for choice or what?.
Ebid could get rid of the...
I tried a search for items to suit a certain make of older car.
On the other side you could just about build a complete car from the stuff listed. On here, you could only buy a sign to put on its...
The numbers of parts might be slowly going up but the variety is still abysmal.
I did a search for some items I want to buy today and turned up a host of very similar items all way over priced from...
They've never heard of ecrater either.
Kevin Bacon of Baconsdozen said
"It is written to sound like an article"
He further added
"Quoting yourself in the manner of an article doesn't give you any extra credibility,"
Agreed, there is no such thing as bad publicity, but to quote yourself in a supposed article is just plain silly
I'd rather see a news release of cold facts about the number of sales, not a load of...
'Article' contributed by Mark Wilkinson.
Self praise is no recommendation.
Thats a shame, there are very few cars or bikes that can be classed as classics that use metric stuff,
I sell imperial tools for these and have imported stainless imperial nuts, bolts and other...
I'm 'into' classic cars,I own a few and run a classic car forum.
U bolts in stainless might be an idea,as well as nut and bolt packs in UNF and UNC. Plain and locking washers might be worth a go...
Thanks for this thread.
I thought I'd done something wrong when some of my listings had sections of the description missing.
The lack of resposen from Admin is a very poor show and makes the whole...
Sales are hard enough to find as it is ,this 'fix' isn't going to help.
Perhaps you should warn Ebid. That sort of thing wont exactly enhance their reputation abroad (or here).
