    Closing Shop

After much consideration, I've decided not to list any new items in my shop and after the current listings finish I will close it.

please take a look at the items listed as they say on the...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

Sometimes non-payers will be down to mistakes/misunderstandings and the inability of some people to address it sensibly when it happens, but it is a sad fact that some people get a perverse pleasure...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

I'm not unreasonable, I allow 5 days for a payment to be made following a purchase (which I feel is fine for an auction bid win but strange for a 'buy it now' purchase) sending payment reminders for...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

The answer is simply, if you are only 'considering' an item you add it to your 'watch' list, if you decide to purchase later on you just convert to order.. even I, as an Old Fa*t who's a bit of a...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

Legally, your probably right and the cost in both money and time in addressing the problem is certainly not worth it for the value of the items I have for sale.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

I don't understand the relevance of your referenced 'old saying'...how does committing to buy an item on an auction site bear any resemblance to 'taking a joke'?

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

I really feel that this (and other) sites should emphasise the importance of placing a bid and if the purchase is not paid for then a consequence should happen, be it as mild as a negative registered...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

The last three buyers have all been NON-PAYERS!!!! Two of them bought using the 'Buy It Now' option and I have to ask why would you do that?
This site is a slow selling site at the best of times,...

    Re: Increase in no-payers?

I'm sure you're right in saying eBid do take action against bidders with poor payment issues. My point is that non payment is easy when buying almost anonymously through the internet - whereas not...

    Increase in no-payers?

I sell mainly books and have loads of items listed already with additions almost daily. sales have, to be honest, been fairly poor but selling a few titles every month at least makes the relisting...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

deanasaur1972, I fear we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this point! I'm sure others could say if I dropped the auction running time to 3 days some buyers may be more inclined to place...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

If you look at my feedback here (and less than 50% of sales have received feedback) you see that a lot of the recent buyers are indeed new to Ebid, this initially made me think the site had finally...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

I don't offer returns on either site. we will have to wait and see if recent changes over 'there' makes any difference. I would point out that from what I read on the boards over there, whatever...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

No returns policy. 99% of my auctions are for books.. why would anyone return a book? If there was a quality issue I would of course reimburse the buyer but what other reason would a book need to be...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

Sorry I don't agree with your conclusion. Ebid IS an auction site with an OPTION to B.I.N. As A buyer if you want to be able to buy something sooner rather than later without using the B.I.N. option...

Re: Do books sell on ebid?

Mmm. I prefer (and always have) the auction facility, I only offer a B.I.N., price because it's there. if people don't want to wait until the auctions finished them I'm sorry but perhaps auction...
