Well hope your snow is gone Police, mind you here everything comes to a stand still very quickly. yet I can remember while growing up that we walked to school with quiet deep snow, & when |I started work60 years ago it snowing & we just had to get on with it, only difference was as office junior I had to go out & make delieveries so actually wore my wellies ,now it all comes to a halt.

Yes here in Somerset must have been about the same temperture as did some bits in the garden just clearing up & didn't need a jacket.

    @maplegin
Snow can come all the way to the end of May.
It was always safe to plant at the end of May.

    * I remember as a kid of walking to school that was a mile away. There was a field that we would cut through to save some time, but winter time, we had to take the long way around.
    * I remember trying to cut through the field and the snow was up to our knees. NEVER tried that again. LOL

They had extended the forecast for snow until midnight, last night.
    Now - out to shovel.
Snow plow just came by and blocked the end of the driveway. ( The worse part of snow shoveling.)
And then a path to the pine trees so I can feed the birds.

    Snow is melting again.
My pathways are free of snow and the snow roof tops are melting.
Brought in a bucket of cold melted snow. The cats love drinking it and the indoor plants get some "winter" drink.

Slow process on working on my website.
Had to print off how to redirect my domain to this other site.
    I thought I had it set up, but . . .

You've had quite a snowy winter, police! When I lived by Chicago, we got lots of deep snow as a result of lake effect. In MN there was a constant freeze (it seemed) and snow from Oct to July (only slightly exaggerated.

UK weather is a lot like the Pacific NW....WA and OR.....dry summers and wet winters, and a lot of the same flora.yo

I think I'd go nuts trying to build a website......you are an impressive inspiration.

Actually, the winters are not really that bad then in the past.
Throughout the winter, we would have days of 3-10 inches of snow and a few times over 1-3 feet.
It's actually been less times of the days of snow, but the bitter cold is a bit different.
This year, I don't believe we had as many days of 30 below zero wind chills.

I do think the on and off of melting snow may be helping the plants. The past years, all the snow would melt during a weeks time and running off the fields down to the creek.

This afternoon is a start of an ice storm and will continue until tomorrow.

Well, back to working on my website.

I saw someth ing about there being snow falls in Colorado now...or coming this week. We just had a little hail storm! Tiny hail, but heavy and it lasted several minutes. Very refreshing!

Yes, I think slow melt is far better for the soil and plants. Gives it time to sink in.

I am more than happy to sent you a boat load of this slushy sleet.

The sleet is still coming down until midnight.
I thought I would go out and do some shoveling.
Oh NO. Too heavy, and I need to wax the snow shovel before trying again.

Police sorry you are still getting the white stuff, they keep threatening it for this Country but not really had much of it yet but they are saying its still on the way.

Majesty, think you are right when you say slow thaw helps the plants, they keep saying the ground is drying up but doesn't seem to be in this area.

It was "brisk" out today..........or "fresh", as an old friend here in the UK would say. Clouds are mostly gone now that it's sunset. We went for a little walk around the block, and i'm trying to think of something easy and edible for supper.

Daughter N of Denver area had a snow day yesterday, so she and her daughter stayed home. She was glad she didn't have to teach, as she was sick, and so was her 7 yr old. I imagine today it's back to normal, but way below freezing.

I hope you're all doing well!
