Unhappy Where do some sellers get their PS3 prices from?!

I've seen several PS3 consoles for sale here that are vastly overpriced, their RRP's are wrong and I'd be amazed if they ever sell. Last time I checked, Amazon are selling the 40GB PS3 for 280, typically shops sell at 299 but usually they have deals on which start at 309 and go up to 350+.

I've also seen some bargains going on PS3 consoles here. I got my 40GB PS3 from Amazon last Christmas for 269 with a free HDMI cable, it was the best deal around at the time. I don't know why people think the 60GB is worth so much more, a proper PS2 console is going to be much better for playing the old games.

I suppose its on the buying power of the seller.
A big seller who gets a quantity discount will always have the edge over the smaller seller.

I don't believe someone who bought volume PS3's would be charging some of the prices I've seen on here and eBay, they must just be chancers hoping that people will be dumb enough not to look on the high street first.

Depends on the bundle you get. Some of the catalogues are still asking £500+ for the top end packages. Sure you can probably get the basic kit for less if you shop around but that's the same story for everything, isn't it?

Since when did catalogues sell anything cheap? Argos is one of the most expensive places to buy consumer electronics from, so is Tesco.
The RRP is not set by individual shops.

Since when does everyone have to sell everything cheap? That goes for shops, catalogues AND eBid sellers? Why should everyone be forced into a price war and make so little profit the effort of buying, listing and posting becomes greater than the reward?

This may come as a shock but people sell on here to make profit, or in some cases some sell at a lose.

Well, for me an auction site is a place to sell things that I no longer want or need - be they used or unused. If someone can bulk-buy a load of PS3's at trade price and make a profit on them, by all means, but selling the same thing that's available in the shops but for as much as +100 quid, that I just can't understand. Even if they sold at RRP they still have P&P on top of that.
    I would want extras!
