Thread: Its Bugging Me! Any idea what this is??

Default Its Bugging Me! Any idea what this is??

    Hi,

I found this bug, well loads of them in my garden today, but I have no idea what they are, my partner spent some time looking on the internet today but could find no results for 'strange bug with spikes'!

It is about 1cm long and has little spikes on its back, is it dangerous or even poisonous?

I have told my lad not to touch them till we find out what they are, so I am hoping there are some clever eBidders out there who can solve our mystery.

Ah - that'll be the new Seller Performance Compliance Bug that eBay are sending to everyone selling on competitor sites. It's trained to sit watching through the window and then report back all the sites you're using and what you're saying about them in forums and blogs (we all know eBay are now carp at search and finding, and they've fallen out with Google, so this is the only way they can find out nowadays)

Spray it, stomp it, squidge it, and then drop it in acid ....

.... or simply put it in a box and sent it to eBay in Richmond London for the attn of the Head of Trust & Safety with a note explaining you trust it's his and it should be kept indoors for safety

There is a huge list on the lower left for you to plow through. I'd expect your beasty to be there somewhere. If not, or if you just can't be bothered, you can also email them and send a copy of the picture.

    You could also try: http://www.bugsandweeds.co.uk/index.html

EDIT: Bugs and Weeds have it toward the bottom of the page:

It's a ladybird lava so quite harmless and good for the garden. They eat aphids like the full grown ladybird. Handy having a hubby that is a biology teacher !!!

I get them in my garden.
Just had a look in my wildlife book, but can't find it.
What resembles it closest is hawthorn shield bug.

Well that explains why there was a dead ladybird beside one of them!

Thanks for that, I can now 'impress' my other half by telling her I know what it is, then I will own up and show her this thread!
