Thread: Who Plays What?

I've got a spinet (John Morley, English bentside), a piano (John Broadwood and Sons upright grand, ironframe) - which is in another house and which i don't get to play as much as I'd like), and two tin whistles, a C and D, which I bought when I was in Ireland, and which I can play a bit - primary school recorder level.

    I'm basically a keyboards person.

My 2 daughters both play instruments after taking them up at Primary school.

The eldest (15) plays the Clarinet and also plays in the school concert bands and orchestras.

The youngest (13) plays the flute, but isn't confident enough yet to play in the larger groups.

Hopefully they will both take their Grade 5 exams before Christmas - the eldest failed hers last time as she hadn't practiced her scales

I am so proud of them both and love to listen to them playing and practicing at home.

I play a guitar (not brilliantly) but love it. At the moment working on learning to play 'anji' - heared the Bert Jansch version?
In about 10 years or so I may have it right(ish)!
We bought a couple of zithers last year in a moment of madness. Autoharp variety is great - easy. But we also got an old concert zither and tutor books, read it all up, restrung it, worked out the tuning etc...but no luck in getting anywhere near playing a tune yet - think we got a bit carried away with that one! but it's a very nice ornament!

I can play the recorder, flute and keyboards. I would love to play piano properly though as I only play keyboard using chords.

Our youngest daughter (14) is taking her Grade 5 flute exam this afternoon.

So my thoughts and prayers are with her. Especially as she is so full of this horrible cold thing which is going round at the moment and has a sore ear, which I hope is not going to turn out to be an infection.

Will let you all know in a few weeks how she got on!

When a friend of mine learnt to play the violin, all the neighbours came round and broke the windows so they could hear him better........lol
