Thread: Help please, record player playing up

  1. #1

Unhappy Help please, record player playing up

    I am in a pickle

I am playing my records and every record gets "stuck" right near the end on 45's

So I thought I would try one that I know to be mint (one that I am not selling) and this also got stuck right near the end.

It seems to me that the needle or ar is not applting enough pressure (although they are not meant to apply too much)

Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do to rectify it?

    thanks in advance

Without a record on the turn table and moving the arm by hand, does the arm move smoothly and easily past the point where it sticks when records are playing? Can you feel any resistance at that point which may be cause by built up dust, dirt or grit in the mechanism? It is possible that the mechanism has gained some dirt build up over time and just needs cleaning.

Yes Damian there is a slight bit of resistance, Dont know how I am going to fi t though as there is no screw to loosen it bt it's less than a few month old I will have a look underneath later to attempt a repair

If its less than a month old why don't you take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement?

It's less than a few months old (about 3-4) and yes I will go back to argos and exchange it. I think I can still do it upto 1 year although they try to say 28 days
