    dire instead of dyre
    fire instead of fyre
    hire instead of hyre
    mire instead of myre
    tire instead of tyre
    wire instead of wyre

Now, really, Ken, I know I have big feet, but I would never be able to keep a spare tire . . . excuse me, spare tyre . . . in my boot!

It's great to know that the "American" language comes from all countries.
As it's been said we are the melting pot of the world.
Have a great holiday and yes a cup of tea and some figgy puddin.
What a great way to converse about our beginnings and a new understanding of the global economy. Wishing you all great bargains and good selling. Here on Ebid. Can't wait to see us overtake the #1 spot.
Keep listing and we'll all get there. Says crazymama.

    Tia,
Who knows, maybe the eBid forums will improve our foreign relations. We certainly could use some help there!

Perhaps we should invite Obama and family to join eBid. They, and the whole purchasing department of the U. S. government, could get better deals on needed items. Foriegn relations would have to improve with the deals we offer world wide. No language barrier on saving money.

Is it really true that Americans aren't exposed to international languages - don't you learn any languages in school?

Way back in the dark ages when I was in school, Spanish was offer but not required. And that was at the biggest high school in the area.

I know the grandkids do Spanish or French, but only for one year. They go to very small rural schools, less than 20 per grade.

Is English a requirement in most countries?

Since the 'Iron Curtain' seems to have gone, English is taught in most, if not all European countries. I started learning English when I was 10 and thought it such a waste of time (little did I know)

Ken, is your bonnet really any bigger than your hood/
