Books aren't selling - full stop!
As I write, I have about 350 good paperbacks in my store - I looked this morning, and on the first two pages, only 6 looks!!!
P & P is the problem (as far as I can see) - I send my books out in jiffybags so they have to be sent as 'packets' as they won't fit through the 'large letter' slot at the PO.
And I have been told that 'printed paper' rates do not apply to my books.
Before they brought that in, the P & P was less than the price of the book - people do not want to pay about twice the book price in P & P ( and I don't blame them!)
Some paperbacks are slim enough to go as large letter. And if they are well wrapped in plastic, they survive the postal journey (I am not talking about special books here)
Craig, if you have any more items to sell I would list them . The more variety the better.
meebo1 can't agree with you more.
as for looks judes nice things have you exported you items to google base if not it is really one of the best ways to drive people to your store.

Thanks hush. But better take your email link out. It's not allowed. And anyway, you could get more mail than you like
JudesNiceThings: if you are sending international, "Printed Paper Rate" does indeed apply. If your post office is telling you different, they are wrong, you need to stand your ground and argue. I regularly send out books internationally, and there has never been a problem.
It is actually surprising how many books can fit through a large letter slot, even if they do have a padded bag around them. Most modern fiction paperbacks will not, of course, but many other books will. I've got a cardboard slot I try to get mine through, and sometimes adjust the packaging to suit, if it will just about go through then I'll wrap the book in newspaper and put it into a manilla envelope or a plastic mailer, they do seem to be just as well protected like that and no one has come back to me stating that their book has been damaged.
I actually purchased a chipboard size guide from an enterprising ebidder. Just can't remember who it was. But it's been extremely useful
Thanks meebo1 for letting me know about the email thingus.
I work for one of the big shipping companys here in the UK and we sometimes have a problem with printed mater. If you are sending books international some country don't see books as doc's or printed matter when they go through customs that maybe the reason why you can't send it as so also some countrys have a weight limit to what they class as books and doc's too.
meebo1 can i ask how do you get to put a picture in your signature????

I've been shipping books internationally for about five years now, and everything goes "printed paper" and everything bar one package has arrived, and that was lost in Italy's notorious postal system.
