    Question many sellers, few buyers!

I spent some time looking at the listings, I see lots of sellers and very few buyers. Page after page of items with no bids. I guess times are bad, what do you think?

    <bursting into song> It ain't necessarily so.<stops singing before I get banned>

All but one of my sales here have been via BuyNow. The thrill of the auction seems to have waned with people. If they want an item they seem to be willing to pay that little bit more than may have been necessary if they fought it out by entering the bidding format of buying.

I don't think you can make a fair assessment by looking at items with bids on.

You make a good point, but still it seems very slow out there!

It is slow; less jobs; less money! But it still has to be out there somewhere!

Sell on there still and send out a flyer in each package, advertising your listings on Ebid... that's one way. Word of mouth can follow on that, when the buyer checks us out and sees how much there is here.

Re the question of no bids, I have only had a couple of sales where there were bids; most of mine have been buyers choosing the fixed price option, which I always give.

Don't think in terms of buyers OR sellers. The people out there that are selling are probably also buyers. The members that read and add to these forums are buyers and sellers. That's the way it used to be over on the other side in the past - collectors trading with each other.

One thing to do is make sure you put a signature link in your posts, link it to your store or stores, so that anybody reading your posts, can quickly click into your store and have a look at what you do.

Maybe we are being nosey, but maybe we'll see something we like, and maybe, for a moment or two we will become a buyer instead of a seller.

For those who aren't fussy about filtering what I sell - Take a look at ALL my stuff above. - But for more specific listings, take a peek in the stores below.

TOY-PALLOI - For all sorts of traditional playthings!

THE PAPERBOYS PLEASURE - For Books & Magazines

    OUT ON THE FLOOR - For Records - (mainly 1950's - 60's)

    VIEWPOINT - Photographic Equipment

THE SCRAPYARD - Spare parts for old cars and bikes

Why moan about lack of bids when you don't ship to UK where the bulk of eBid buyers / sellers are?

Most people like to buy now rather than bid on here that is part of the reason for little bids showing, although there is currently 7758 auctions with at least 1 bid on them
