I just had a phone call from our local shopping mall. I entered a competition to win six months free trading. They select local businesses, give the best ones two weeks free trading (worth £250 a week) and the winner goes through to a national final to win the six months free trading.

They haven't just offered me two weeks to try out, but one of the weekends is the busy Easter weekend. I have to meet the manager on Monday morning, and I am already worrying what if they change their mind, don't think I'm up to it, etc etc. So part of me is so excited I could scream, and the other part is having panic attacks wondering what could go wrong.

It was my eldest who suggested entering the competition, I had been finding excuses not to fill in the form, thinking I would just end up showing myself up as some two-bit operation (I have big self-esteem issues, I know!). I'm glad she has faith in me :-)

The bloke rang me back, he has given me the wrong dates, so I am getting 30th March to 12th April, and not the Easter weekend. Still, it might not be the plum weeks, but it is still free trading that normally costs £500 for two weeks. I am trying to persuade my kids to give out flyers at school and college where they both are, but I think they have heard about the slave labour laws and aren't keen. Just need to find something to blackmail them with, like putting photos of their messy rooms on Facebook ;-)
