Thread: Eyeglass presence for newbies

  1. #1

    Question Eyeglass presence for newbies

Importing feedback has been discussed. Most like/dislike staying associated with feebay feedback system. I have an additional concern:

Ebid newbies now seem to retain their newbie status (sunglasses) ONLY if they do NOT import feedback. When they import feedback, the sunglasses vanish, even if they have no sales/buys on ebid. It is confusing.

It would make more sense for everyone to keep the markings of a newbie (sunglasses) until they made the ncessary number of sales/buys ON EBID. Importing feedback should have no effect on that.

It is very handy to have the sunglasses right where we can see them. Then I know to walk a person thru the invoice process or to give more detail in an answer. A feature we used frequently so longer works as it should.

A good suggestion. The sunglasses should last 45 days minimum no matter how much feedback the new member imports or generates on eBid. After 45 days, if the user has racked up 5 or more positives, the glasses disappear, otherwise they stay on.

Well there are peeps who've been here beyond 45 days and still need a helping hand every now and again. I use the search bar alot and read many of the past threads which have helped me tremendously. I've done that many times on the other site as well although I only used their forum twice, if that. The forum layout here is much nicer.

True, but when I glance at your name I note the glasses and know you are still using your training wheels, have questions, etc. That is what we all went thru and there is certainly never a time limit on asking questions, discussing issues,or learning.

But someone with no feedback on ebid, who imports feedback looks like an experienced ebid seller. If the transaction goes wrong, the buyer will be surprised to note that the none of the feedback is from ebid, and the person has no experience here at all.

Finding that out after the sale fails is not good for ebid. It is also not fair to those people who chose not to import and have to wait patiently for their earned feedback to accumulate.

I think it was a good feature that just needs a tweek.

Well - we all know a certain green person who imported 300+ F/B before they even had the remotest idea of what they were doing, don't we? LOL

Whilst a newbie may stumble around the system when starting, if they have imported feedback it does give an indication that they are a reliable seller, even if there may be some hitches in getting the first sale on here completed. As always do your research first.

Okay, okay. I fess up to that also but I did ask Admin if they can remove my feedback rating that was added to the number that you see now. I didn't realize when retrieving it that all I needed to do was link to the other side's feedback.

I much prefer to keep it as it is now.

As someone who did import thier feedback i think it's a good idea, should dispell some of the problems people have with the import tool.

Whether you racked up 1 or 100,000 positive feedback comments on another competing site, that doesn't make you an expert on the functionality or on the rules of selling on eBid.net.
