    My brother regularly gets high scores on all the games he plays but he has years of computer programming and other techy stuff.

    Using cheats isn't dishonest...it's a skill that some people know about and some don't....like googling for something if you don't know the answer...that isn't cheating either.

    You are not expected to know anything apart from where to look to find the correct information.

    Someone complimented Einstein on his awesome memory and he said that his ability to recall info wasn't awesome...he wrote lots of notes and he looked things up so didn't actually have to remember much at all.

    I learnt at Grammar school that it wasn't what I remembered that mattered but how good I was at looking things up

    Well as an aircraft engineer it could be very dangerous working from memory. Things could have been modified, procedures changed, acceptable practices altered, manuals corrected, etc. since you last did a task. So, beyond the simplest of tasks, you always (or should always) refer to the manual.
