I used to hide behind the sofa during Hopalong Cassidy. He was much to scarey. That sofa, originally belonging to my grandmother, went to my uncle when she died and my cousins hid in the same place during Dr Who!

In all honesty I never really had a hero as such..If I was given no choice but to answer I would have said My Brother in law. He saved me from drowning.

My Dad. He was always larger than life to me and I thought he could do anything!

This quote (who's origins are questionable. Some attributing it to Churchill others to Orwell and others to variations of Kipling and so on... )

"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

It is these 'rough men' who are my heroes.

But as I remember, the Cisco Kid had a black hat, more like a big fancy sombrerro (spelled good), with like silver embroidery on it or something. He might have dressed all in black too. But he was a good guy! His sidekick was Pancho (talk about 1950s stereotypes).

How about Bonanza, can't forget Paw and the boys.
