    Congrats on the grandchild

I remember my mum was really upset when i flew the coup and i was told i was welcome home anytime. Within a month my room had been changed into a computer room with no room for me....... big hint or what

Sounds like you still have a houseful though

One of the disadvantages of having only 1 child is your baby and oldest move out on the same day and he hasn't been back for more than a visit since! Darn me for raising an independent little cuss!

My shoulder is available if you need it.

just been to visit them he asked us to drop a couple of things off
we where in 10 mins quick show round lovely house
    visit over

You did exactly the right thing for a first visit. They just need time to settle in and you will develop a pattern of visits - which usually changes when the grandchildren start appearing. Its great to see your children achieve these milestones.

Both No 1 and No 2 sons moved out the same weekend six years ago! One to his own house and the other to Uni - I was devastated! It just happened to work out like that. Their room was so empty! Youngest daughter moved into that room and then No 2 son was away for four years and I had just turned her old room into a workroom and he decided to come back down this way! So all changed again! No 1 daughter had already been gone for a few years. No 2 son got married in August so I am now back to just the one - she has deferred her Uni placement until next year so at least I have another year with her home

In between all this we had the various wives, girlfriends, boyfriends so a very full house most of the time - at least it is relatively peaceful now. Just look on the bright side - my husband and I rarely have a weekend to ourselves - we are always being invited to their houses for meals - I always take advantage of that! Of course we do get roped into babysitting - No 1 son has two little boys but that's great because they get to destroy their house not mine! and my house is so clean and tidy now! and Oh! the washing or lack of is bliss!
