When I go to the US ebid site, click popular auctions, I'm taken here; http://us.ebid.net/perl/main.cgi?mo=exciting&type=busy. It's not on that page, unless my poor old eyes are deceiving me.

You're about halfway down page 6 of that link ( as I type this). You will slowly rise as the auction nears it end time but you will always be behind all Featured listings.

Popular auctions are those that have a bid or bids made on them.

Popular auctions should be ones that have been viewed a lot. When they use bids only they would only be popular for a few seconds if people wait till the last few seconds to bid, as they do.
