I expect the US Secretary of State will face some tough questioning over the coming days.

This man was well known to be vehemently & vocally opposed to the Iraq & Afghanistan wars.
He was about to be shipped to Afghanistan; his worst nightmare.
And the major red flag! He was under investigation for possibly having links to extremist websites.

So why was he left alone? His job gave him the perfect opportunity for this act of treachery.

The Secret Service and the Army should have been alive to this possibility. I say they were sleeping on the job!

    They let their comrades down.
I agree. He was a psychiatrist and they did not investigate him when it appeared he was having mental issues? No one in their right mind, no matter what race/religion does something like this without displaying some signs which others can pick up on.

Unfortunately, this is an unarmed base too. No loaded guns allowed so it is remarkable how he was able to obtain and use two guns as he did. Again, a breakdown in communication.

It was a miracle that the armed, off duty private policeofficer was alerted and arrived within 4 minutes. She caught him coming out of a building and going on to do Lord knows what and stopped him. She was shot 3 times, once in each leg and her wrist but will be fine.

The unit he fired on was a Wisconsin one, ready to be deployed, there were six deaths/injuries of local men/women; Amy Krueger from Kiel Wisconsin, killed, Russell Seager, Mount Pleasant, Wi, killed, Amber Kahr, Random Lake Wi injuried (she carried people to safety despite being shot), Grant Moxon, Lodi Wi, injuried, Dorrie Carskadon, Moronia, Wi, injuried, and John Pagel, Denzer Wi., injuried.

Mmmm. It is so easy to put blame on others when we are not in the situation of choosing whether someone is competently fit.
Unfortunately no-one actually knows how far someone will go, even if they do have mental health issues. He obviously presented well or they would not have kept him in his unite.

My sincerest sympathy go toward all the families involved.

Islam is a tainted and poisoned religion that worked well for a breif period and now is a fortress for the power hungry and the insane.
Western nations need Muslim populations as much as a nun needs a third breast.

I will never blame Muslims for what they do ...it is part of their religious beliefs ....they just shouldn't be allowed a free run in a non Muslim country.

Sadly....what has happened here and in other non Muslim countries is the result of the multi-cultural -ism experiment.

Coming soon.....to a town near you
I have to agree with some of your comments. During the second world war all Germans that were living in the UK when the war started were sent to camps (I think that is what happened, so if I am wrong please, someone tell me). I am not saying that Muslims should be sent to camps, but these wars are more and more looking like a religious war for some Muslims and it does not make sense to me to want to send a Muslim man to a war against other Muslim people. There was a big risk of rebellion, but unfortunately what happened was a lot worse. I am sorry if I have offended anybody, but to me common sense was not used and should have been.

I expect the US Secretary of State will face some tough questioning over the coming days.

Seems he was a troubled person, certainly a red flag, but being a psychiatrist/medical doctor and a Major, probably got him more leaway. But his not being detected and being allowed to get loaded guns is something that the Army must answer for.

I also think the Army was at serious fault here for not protecting its men and women from harm on an unarmed base. They certainly should have anticipated such a thing on the largest Army base in US.

The FBI is involved and has been from the beginning. They will do a complete investigation. If this guy survives he is going to be in prison for the rest of his life. Once the FBI gathers evidence on a case, it is airtight in court. He ain't going to squirm out of this one, mental illness or not.

He was a competent terrorist! whatever else he was.

Bottom line is he should have been picked out.

He was well above the radar and that's without hindsight.
I do blame the US Army & their Secret Service end of!

And who are we to pass judgement when we do not have ALL the fact.

I just think that jumping to conclusions, helps no-one.

He was vehemently opposed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That is a fact known to his Army colleagues before he acted.
He was under investigation for suspected extremist connections.
    That's a fact
The US Army and Secret Service knew these facts beforehand.
    And that's a fact!

    13 people died in a terrorist act - and that's a FACT!

Where am I jumping to conclusions?

"Evil flourishes when good men do nothing."?

People are all too often reluctant to voice how they truly feel and take action.....the result often is that things that get ignored don't go away.
