Thread: odd ebid website?????

  1. #1

    Unhappy odd ebid website?????

Odd thing happened. Checked on google to see if my tatted trims showed up yet. Put in ebid+tatted trims and got website called ebidshopping.com. All the items show for trims were for feebay auctions!!!

These characters, whoever they are, bought rights to ebidshopping.com and are directing searches over to feebay auctions under the banner of ebid.

Today's Milwaukee Journal had article about "cyber hijacking". A law firm, Habush Habush & Rottier is suing another law firm Cannon & Dunphy because they (C & D) are paying for keywords "Habush & Rottier". As result, searchers on google, etc, are being directed to the Cannon & Dunphy site when searching for Habush. H H &D is also accusing C & D of using THEIR name for advertising purposes without their permission.

Has this happened to us too??? If google is our friend, why are they letting this feebid link be shown under ebid searches?

Good suggestion, I did that. They probably know about it, but just in case they don't know.

If our eBid have never registered the name (and there are no ® or TM marks I have seen) then there is likely little they can do about someone else using it; if you search the web several people already do. Someone could even register the name and stop our eBid using it.

This would appear to be the registered eBid logos:

This site throws up some interesting stuff: http://www.start.biz/business_names/....php?name=eBid

New world of cyber selling, eh? Down and dirty.

ebid can't control keywords or websites, but has right to its own name. i.e. lawsuite possible because Wisconsin has privacy law which protects company names. ebid has similiar protections in UK and US I imagine.

Update, this pm, keywords H & R were used so much today, they jammed, broke or were taken down. Mr. C called Mr. H an old fogey, and Mr. H commented he understood business in 21st century but certainly would not open a store and call it Michael Jordan. These sassy lawyers!!
